Nicephore Niepce produced the 1st photograph in June/ July 1827. He used chemicals inside the metal plate of a camera obscura to click a picture.

<u>EXPLANATION:</u>

Using these chemicals on the metal plate, he got an obscure picture or photograph of the view outside of a window. He also called this process as Heliography.

The process of the exposure to the sun for taking the photograph lasted for about eight hours and the sun had time to move from east to west making it possible to throw light on all objects that were visible outside the window. The photograph was however hard to decipher.
