Repair systems that target a single type of damage in dna and repair only that type of damage are called ____________ systems.
Flauer [41]
I believe the answer is Specific repair systems. These types of repairs target a single kind of lesion or damage and repair only that damage.DNA repair is a collection of processes by which a cell identifies and corrects damage to the DNA molecule that encodes its genome. DNA damage may result from both metabolic activities and environmental factors such as radiation.

What is a relevance of the "Protista?"
ANEK [815]

Answer:

Protists are unicellular eukaryotes which show both plant and animal characters and these are considered as a bridge between plants and animals.

Explanation:

Protists are single-celled life forms and are eukaryotic organisms. Some of the protists like euglena shows both plant and animal characteristics. Protists are important in the following aspects -

 • These are a good source of food for many animals. For example phytoplankton is the major source of food for whales. Zooplanktons also serve a good source of food for many aquatic organisms. These organisms often serve as the foundation of the food chain.
 • By doing photosynthesis they also used to be beneficial in the balance of ecosystem.
 • Some protists are also used as biofuel.
 • They often show symbiotic relations with other organisms.

If a negatively charged ion is more concentrated outside the cell, the forces required to balance the chemical gradient would be
svetlana [45]

Answer:

If a negatively charged ion is more concentrated outside the cell, the forces required to balance the chemical gradient would be directed outwards. Thus, the equilibrium potential for this ion would be negatively charged.

Explanation:

The resting membrane potential is normally due to small excess of negative ions inside of positive ions outside the cells.

The negative charges are attracted to the positive charges and they form a thin layer of negative inside and positive outside of the cell. The rest of extracellular and intracellular fluid remains normal.

If negatively charged ion is more concentrated outside the cell, then the forces will move outwards, in order to balance the gradient. Thus resulting in negative equilibrium potential (The potential at which no movement of the ion occur across the membrane)

In pea plants, tallness (T) is dominant to shortness (t). What is the predicted genotypic ratio of the offspring if a homozygous
tino4ka555 [31]
First, to answer this question, you need to draw a Punnett square. So you put the homozygous short alleles (tt) on top of the square, and the heterozygous tall alleles (Tt) on the left side of the square (or vice versa, it doesn't really matter).

When you create the Punnett Square, you then perform the cross between the two plants' alleles. I cross t with T and that gives me Tt. Same with the next one, t and T becomes Tt. Then, I cross t with t and that gives me tt. Same with the next one, t and t becomes tt.

So, the answer here would then be c. 50 percent Tt, 50 percent tt. You might say, well, couldn't answer d also work? Answer d could only work if the question was asking for the phenotypic ratio of the offspring. Then you could say 50% tall, 50% short. But the question asks for the genotypic ratio, so it would instead be c. 50 percent Tt, 50 percent tt.

Hope this helps!
