Chemistry

Answer:

_{82}^{206}\text{Pb}

Explanation:

All isotopes with atomic numbers from 83 up are unstable.

Thus, _{84}^{210}\text{Po}must lose at least two protons to become stable. The only common type of decay that fits is α decay, the loss of a _{2}^{4}\text{He} particle.

The nuclear equation is then

_{84}^{210}\text{Po}\rightarrow _{x}^{y}\text{Z} + _{2}^{4}\text{He}

The main point to remember in balancing nuclear equations is that <em>the sums of the superscripts and the subscripts must be the same</em> on each side of the equation.

Then

84 = x + 2, so x = 84 - 2 = 82

210 = y + 4, so y = 210 – 4 = 206

Element 82 is lead, so the nuclear equation becomes

_{84}^{210}\text{Pu} \longrightarrow _{82}^{206}\text{Pb} + _{2}^{4}\text{He}

(there are 3 quetions) how is heat being transfered in:
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

Since I already answered the first two I will tell you the third one!

In general, the radiation heat transfer from one surface to another is the radiation leaving the first surface for the other minus that arriving from the second surface. Radiation heat transfer is mediated by electromagnetic radiation, known as thermal radiation, that arises due to the temperature of a body.

The following reaction occurs in a car’s catalytic converter.
blagie [28]

Answer:The correct answer is ;

The oxidation state of nitrogen in NO changes from +2 to 0, and the oxidation state of carbon in CO changes from +2 to +4 as the reaction proceeds.

Explanation:

2NO(g)+2CO(g)\rightarrow N_2(g)+2CO_2(g)

In an oxidation recation addition of oxygen atom takes place or loss of electrons takes place.

In an reduction reaction removal of oxygen atom takes place or gain of electrons takes place.

In the given reaction , the nitrogen atom is present in +2 oxidation state in NO molecule and present in 0 oxidation state in N_2 molecule. Hence, nitrogen is getting reduced that is reduction reaction. NO is oxidizing agent

In the given reaction , the carbon atom is present in +2 oxidation state in CO molecule and present in +4 oxidation state in CO_2 molecule. Hence ,carbon is getting oxidized that is oxidation reaction. CO is a reducing agent.
