The angles across from the legs are called as \boxed{\text{\bf base angles}}.

Further explanation:

Consider \triangle\text{ABC} as an isosceles triangle whose sides are AB, BC, CA as shown in attached Figure 1.

In an isosceles triangle the two sides are equal and the angles corresponding to the opposite sides are equal.

In Figure 1 it can be seen that the side AB and BC are equal and \angle\text{ABC} and \angle\text{ACB} are also equal.

These two equal sides AB and BC are known as legs and the third side BC is base.

The angles \angle\text{ACB} and \angle\text{ABC} are called as the base angle and the third angle \angle\text{BAC} is the vertex angle.

As per the angle sum property in \triangle\text{ABC}, the sum of three angles is equal to 180^{\circ}.

The angles of \triangle\text{ACB} is calculated as,

\angle\text{ACB}+\angle\text{ABC}+\angle\text{CAB}=180^{\circ}

Thus, the angles across from the legs are called as \boxed{\text{\bf base angles}}.

Answer:

The angles across from the legs are called base angles

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The isosceles triangle is a triangle with two equal angles and two equal sides

The two equal sides are called legs and the third side is called base

The two equal angles are called base angles and the third angle is called vertex angle

What is the measure of x°?<br><br> 1. 90°<br> 2. 101°<br> 3. 114°<br> 4. 111°
Ivenika [448]

Answer:

114

Step-by-step explanation:

The 5 angles equal 540, so subtract the 4 angles and you are left with 114.

540-111-103-122-90=114

Find an ordered pair (x, y) that is a solution to the equation.<br><br> x-5y=5
timurjin [86]

Answer:

(x,y)=(0,-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Observe that the equation x-5y=5 can be transformed in the equation of a line

x-5y=5\\-5y=5-x\\y=\frac{x-5}{5}\\y=\frac{1}{5}x-1

Since x can take any value then the equation has infinite solutions. But we need only an solution (x,y). Then, taking x=0 we have that y=\frac{1}{5}*0-1=-1.

Therefore the ordered pair (x,y)=(0,-1) is a solution of the equation.

2(4 - 2r) = -2(r + 5)
Alexus [3.1K]
2(4 - 2r) = -2(r + 5)

First, divide both sides by -2. / Your problem should look like: -4 + 2r = r + 5
Second, regroup your terms. / Your problem should look like: 2r - 4 = r + 5
Third, add 4 to both sides. / Your problem should look like: 2r = r + 5  + 4
Fourth, add r + 5 + 4 to get r + 9. / Your problem should look like:2r = r + 9
Fifth, subtract r from both sides. / Your problem should look like: 2r - r = 9
Sixth, subtract 2r - r to get r. / Your problem should look like: r = 9

Answer: r = 9

While grading her students' most recent quiz on equation solving, Mrs. Jones calculated that approximately forty percent of her
EastWind [94]

The given equation is,

3(-n+4)+5n=2n

Part 1:

Solve the above equation for n.

Using distributive property of multiplication,

\begin{gathered} -3n+3\times4+5n=2n \\ -3n+12+5n=2n \end{gathered}

Now, group the like terms.

-3n+5n-2n+12=0

Now, add the like terms.

\begin{gathered} -5n+5n+12=0 \\ 0=-12 \end{gathered}

0=-12 is a false statement.

Since we obtained a false statement, the given equation has no solution.

So, option b is correct.

Part 2:

The option (a) is n=3.

If while solving an equation, a single value is obtained for the variable, then the equation has only a single solution. If n=3 is obtained after solving the equation, then the student should chose option (a) as the answer.

The option (b) is "no solution".

While solving an equation, if we obtain an equation which is mathematically false, then the equation will have no solution. So, no solution is chosen when no value is obtained for n and the final equation is mathematically false.

The option (c) is "infinitely many solutions".

While solving an equation, if we obtain an equation which is mathematically correct such as 0=0, 7=7 etc., then the equation will have infinietly many solutions. So, infinitely many solutions is chosen when no value is obtained for n and the final equation is mathematically correct.
