Graphs limited to the first quadrant would have positive points only, for bith the x and y variables, which means there wouldnt be any points in any other quadrant.... in other words, plotted points with both variables being positive would stay within the first quadrant. hope this answers your question!!

Because the numbers are positive (x,y), all of the other quadrants have negitive numbers (-x,-y) (-x,y) (x, -y)

90 POINTS WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST! Algebra - What should I put in the y = __ box?
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

Y is also commonly used in Slope Intercept form. Y = mx+b. Where y is the dependent variable(the answer for a value of x, the one you are changing),m is the slope of the line, and b is the value for y when x is 0. For example: y=3x+5. When x is 0, y is 5, and when x is 5 (just a random number) y is 20

The point (7, 4) lies on a circle centered at the origin. Write the equation of the circle and state the radius.
k0ka [10]

Given:

The point (7, 4) lies on a circle centered at the origin.

To find:

The equation of the circle and the radius of the circle.

Solution:

Distance formula:

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

The point (7, 4) lies on a circle centered at the origin. So, the distance between the points (7,4) and (0,0) is equal to the radius of the circle.

r=\sqrt{(0-7)^2+(0-4)^2}

r=\sqrt{(-7)^2+(-4)^2}

r=\sqrt{49+16}

r=\sqrt{65}

The standard form of the circle is

(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2            ...(i)

Where, (h,k) is the center of the circle and r is the radius of the circle.

Putting h=0, k=0 and r=\sqrt{65} in (ii), we get

(x-0)^2+(y-0)^2=(\sqrt{65})^2

x^2+y^2=65

Therefore, the equation of the circle is x^2+y^2=65 and its radius is r=\sqrt{65}.

Find the equation of the line that passes through the point (2, 1) and is perpendicular to y=(−2/5)x+3.
Natali [406]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

perp. 5/2

y - 1 = 5/2(x - 2)

y - 1 = 5/2x - 5

y = 5/2x - 4

Calculate the calories lost when 85 g of water cools from 45 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius
Leto [7]

The amount of heat lost by the water is 1870 calories

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of heat released by a substance is given by the equation

Q=mC\Delta T

where

Q is the amount of heat lost

m is the mass of the substance

C is the specific heat capacity of the substance

\Delta T is its change in temperature

In this problem, we have:

m = 85 g is the mass of water

C=1 cal /g^{\circ}C is the specific heat capacity of water

\Delta T = 23-45=-22^{\circ}C is the change in temperature of the water

Substituting, we find

Q=(85)(1)(-22)=-1870 cal
