For the first one on top, you would first add 27 plus 60, which is 87. Then, you will divide it by three. So on the outside of the parentheses, you will put down 3. Then, you will subract 87 and 29. You will put 29 and the difference of 87 and 29 inside the parenthese.

For the second one on the bottom, you would read the problem carefully. Notice that in the problem, it says pretzels to chips.That means you would write the cups of pretzels:cups of chips.

Hope this helped.

the second term of a geometric sequence is 18 and the fourth term is 8 find the common ratio . And find the sum of the first 6 t
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

  • ratio: 2/3
  • sum: 73 8/9

Step-by-step explanation:

The general term of a geometric sequence is ...

  an = a1·r^(n-1)

You have the 2nd and 4th terms, so ...

  a2 = a1·r^(2-1) = a1·r

  a4 = a1·r^(4-1) = a1·r^3

We can find r from the ratio ...

  a4/a2 = (a1·r^3)/(a1·r) = r^2 = 8/18 = 4/9

Then r is ...

  r = √(4/9) = 2/3 . . . . the common ratio

The first term is ...

  a2 = 18 = a1·(2/3)

  a1 = (3/2)·18 = 27

__

The sum of the first 6 terms is ...

  Sn = a1·(r^n -1)/(r -1)

  S6 = 27·((2/3)^6 -1)/(2/3 -1)

  S6 = 27·(64/729-1)/(2/3-1) = (27)(665)/243 = 73 8/9

The sum of the first 6 terms is 73 8/9.

_____

Check on the sum

The first 6 terms are ...

  27, 18, 12, 8, 5 1/3, 3 5/9

Their sum is 73 8/9, as above.

The width of a rectangular field is 20 feet less than its length. The area of the field is 12,000 ft? What is the length of the
Scilla [17]

Answer:

The answer is 120 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of the field (A) is:

A = w · l       (w - width, l - length)

It is known:

A = 12,000 ft²

l = w - 20

So, let's replace this in the formula for the area of the field:

12,000 = w · (w - 20)

12,000 = w² - 20

⇒ w² - 20w - 12,000 = 0

This is quadratic equation. Based on the quadratic formula:

ax² + bx + c = 0      ⇒

In the equation w² - 20w - 12,000 = 0, a = 1, b = -20, c = -12000

Thus:

So, width w can be either

or

Since, the width cannot be a negative number, the width of the field is 120 feet.

Alona [7]

Since 57x17=969 I did 969-942 and got 27 so there is 16 full rows and then 27 left over so that means it won’t be a full row but 27 extra seats will be filled. (If your wondering where the 17 came from that’s how many rows can be made that’s over 942 because if I did 57x16 it would equal 912 and I would not have had a full row of chairs)
