They tell us that they had an affinity for measuring and keeping track of time which means they probably had some things which they wanted to do periodically. Or at least that they wanted to keep track of when they happened. This also tells us that they were sophisticated enough to develop time tracking, writing and were efficient enough to use all of them continuously.
