Well 1st, the total of the cards (including gold) is 11. Then without the gold it is 10. So you take the number of red and the total and the fraction would be 3/10. and 3/10ths is 0.30 as a decimal, so to convert from a decimal to a percentage you move the decimal 2 spots to the right, therefore your answer is 30%

Identify the vertical asymptote(s) of the function. Mr001-1. Jpg x = -4 x = -2 x = -1 x = 1 x = 2 x = 4.
AysviL [449]

Using it's concept, it is found that the vertical asymptotes of the function f(x) = \frac{x + 2}{x^2 - 3x - 4} are given by:

  • x = -1.
  • x = 4.

<h3>Vertical asymptote:</h3>
  • The <em>vertical asymptotes </em>of a function f(x) are the <u>values of x which are outside the domain of the function</u>.
  • In a fraction, it is the <u>roots of the denominator</u>.

In this problem, the function is:

f(x) = \frac{x + 2}{x^2 - 3x - 4}

The denominator is x^2 - 3x - 4, which is a quadratic function with coefficients a = 1, b = -3, c = -4, hence, it's roots are found as follows.

\Delta = b^2 - 4ac = (-3)^2 - 4(1)(-4) = 25

x_{1} = \frac{-(-3) + \sqrt{25}}{2} = 4

x_{2} = \frac{-(-3) - \sqrt{25}}{2} = -1

Hence, the asymptotes are x = 4 and x = -1.

Over several years, students of Professor Robin Lock have flipped a large number of coins and recorded whether the flip landed o
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

a) The observational units for this study  are coins

b)  The test is a two-tailed test.

c)  Since the p-value is < α, we can therefore conclude that long-run proportion of heads significantly differ from 0.50

d)  The findings are known as statistically important, due to the very large sample size. But the difference between the 0.50 ratio hypothesized and the 0.51 ratio observed isn't very large. Consequently , the findings are not relevant

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The observational units for this study  are coins

b) Number of heads = x = 14709

Number of flips = n = 29015

Sample proportion = \bar{p} = x ÷ n = 14709 ÷ 29015=0.51

H_{o} : p =0.50

H_{a}: p \ne 0.50

z = (\bar{p}-p)/\sqrt{p(1-p)/n} = (0.51-0.50)/\sqrt{0.50 \times (1-0.50)/29015}

z = 2.366

Using the normal distribution table, area under the normal curve to the right of z;

z = 2.366 = 0.009

The test is a two-tailed test.

Hence, p-value = 0.009 \times 2 = 0.018

c) α = 0.05

p-value < α = 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis.

We can therefore conclude that long-run proportion of heads significantly differ from 0.50

d)  The findings are known as statistically important, due to the very large sample size. But the difference between the 0.50 ratio hypothesized and the 0.51 ratio observed isn't very large. Consequently , the findings are not relevant
