Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:   7

Discussion:

Let "x" be Kevin's current age. From the probel statement:

x + 56 = 9x.

Subtract "x" from each side:

(x-x) + 56 = 9x -x  or

0 + 56 = 8x.  Divide each side by 8:

56/8 = x  or

7 = x

Thank you,

MrB

He is currently 47.

56-9=47 and if you switched it around it would be 47+9=56 so the answer is 47.

Without solving what can you tell about the solution to this equation?<br> 0.002n + 15 =2
Andrews [41]

Answer:

We know that the value of n will be negative.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since 15 is so much larger than 2, we know that the other value on that side would have to be a negative value. Since the coefficient is not negative, we know the variable must be.

A supermarket offers a delivery service. If a customer pays $9 per month, each delivery costs just $2. Write an equation that sh
Rzqust [24]

The linear function that models the total cost for x deliveries is:

y(x) = 2x + 9

-------------------

A linear function has the following format:

y = mx + b

In which

  • m is the slope, that is, the rate of change.
  • b is the y-intercept, that is, the value of y when x = 0.

In this problem:

  • Fixed cost of $9 per month, b = 9.
  • Cost of $2 for each delivery, thus m = 2.

The function for the <u>total cost for x deliveries is:</u>

y(x) = 2x + 9

Jillian is trying to save water, so she reduces the size of her square grass lawn by 8 feet on each side the area of the smaller
horsena [70]

Answer: 20 feet by 20 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. You know that x is the original measure of one side. Since it is a square, all its sides are equal.

2. Therefore, to solve the problem you only need to solve for x, as you can see below:

- You have that:

(a-b)^{2}=a^{2}-2ab+b^{2}

- Then, you obtain the following quadratic equation:

(x-8)^{2} =144\\x^{2}-2(x)(8)+8^{2}=144\\x^{2}-16x-80=0

- Apply the Quadratic formula to solve it:

x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac}}{2a}\\a=1\\b=-16\\c=-80

- Then, you obtain:

x_1=20\\x_2=-4

3. The dimensions cannot be negative, therefore, the answer is: 20 feet by 20 feet.

The answer is 224.7 you got to turn 30% into decimal which is 0.30
then multiply 0.30 and 749 which equals 224.7
