how do the currents produced by a 1.5 v flashlight cell and a 12 v car battery compare if the resistance is the same

Physics

Current = (voltage) / (resistance)

I(flashlight) = (1.5 v) / (resistance)
----------------------------------------------
I(car battery) = (12 v) / (resistance)

If the resistance is the same in both cases, then

I(flashlight)          1.5
-----------------  =   ------
I(car battery)        12

The flashlight current is 1/8 (12.5%) as much as the car battery current.

The car battery current is 8 times as much as the flashlight current.

A meter stick whose mass is 330 grams lies on ice. You pull at one end of the meter stick, at right angles to the stick, with a
Sophie [7]

Answer:

initial magnitude will be 9 N and direction will be to the right

Explanation:

force= 9N

mass m= 330 grams

acceleartion = a

from newtons 2nd law of motion we write

F= \frac{\mathrm{dP} }{\mathrm{d} t}

dP is the chage in momentum dt is time taken and F is the Force applied

9N= \frac{\mathrm{dP} }{\mathrm{d} t}

this shows that the rate of change of momentum is 9 N

we also know that F= ma

putting values we get

9= 0.330\times a

a= 27.27 m/sec^2

The direction of acceleration will along the direction of force applied. So will be the direction of change momentum as in F=ma,  mass is the scalar quantity and direction of force dictates the direction of motion. Hence, initial magnitude will be 9N and direction will be to the right

A family took a trip in a car traveling East from Greensboro to Wilmington, NC. Use the Graph to answer the questions below.
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

1). Average speed = 1.5 m per second

2). Average velocity = 1.5 m per second

Explanation:

1). Since, speed is a scalar quantity

   Therefore, average speed of the trip = \frac{\text{Total distance covered}}{\text{Total time taken}}

    From the graph attached,

   Total distance covered = 10 + 10 + 20 + 0 + 20 + 30

                                           = 90 meters

   Total time taken = 60 seconds

    Average speed = \frac{90}{60}

                               = 1.5 meter per second

2). Velocity is a vector quantity.

    Therefore, average velocity = \frac{\triangle d}{\triangle t}

                                                   = \frac{d_{60}-d_0}{60-0}

                                                   = \frac{90-0}{60-0}

                                                   = 1.5 meter per second

marishachu [46]

Answer:

The impact occured at a distance of 2478.585 meters from the person.

Explanation:

(After some research on web, we conclude that problem is not incomplete) The element "Part A" may lead to the false idea that question is incomplete. Correct form is presented below:

<em>A person, with his ear to the ground, sees a huge stone strike the concrete pavement. A moment later two sounds are heard from the impact: one travels in the air and the other in the concrete, and they are 6.4 seconds apart. How far away did the impact occur? (Sound speed in the air: 343 meters per second, sound speed in concrete: 3000 meters per second)</em>

Sound is a manifestation of mechanical waves, which needs a medium to propagate themselves. Depending on the material, sound will take more or less time to travel a given distance. From statement, we know this time difference between air and concrete (\Delta t), in seconds:

\Delta t = t_{A}-t_{C} (1)

Where:

t_{C} - Time spent by the sound in concrete, in seconds.

t_{A} - Time spent by the sound in the air, in seconds.

By suposing that sound travels the same distance and at constant speed in both materials, we have the following expression:

\Delta t = \frac{x}{v_{A}}-\frac{x}{v_{C}}

\Delta t = x\cdot \left(\frac{1}{v_{A}}-\frac{1}{v_{C}}  \right)

x = \frac{\Delta t}{\frac{1}{v_{A}}-\frac{1}{v_{C}}  } (2)

Where:

v_{C} - Speed of the sound in concrete, in meters per second.

v_{A} - Speed of the sound in the air, in meters per second.

x - Distance traveled by the sound, in meters.

If we know that \Delta t = 6.4\,s, v_{C} = 3000\,\frac{m}{s} and v_{A} = 343\,\frac{m}{s}, then the distance travelled by the sound is:

x = \frac{\Delta t}{\frac{1}{v_{A}}-\frac{1}{v_{C}}  }

x = 2478.585\,m

The impact occured at a distance of 2478.585 meters from the person.
