Plants is the first organisms to receive Carbon as CO2, to initiate the process of photosynthesis. Through this process the plants is serving as the primary producers, and sources of carbons for other organisms.These organisms (the consumers) must feed on plants to trap Carbon, when they consume plants to derive carbohydrate(glucose),proteins and lipids.
