Answer:

x =80°

y = 280°

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: AB \parallel CD

Extend segment CE in the direction of E in such a way that it intersects ray AB at point say P.

\therefore m\angle APE = m\angle ECD..(Alternate\: \angle s)\\\because  m\angle ECD = 42°\\\therefore m\angle APE = 42°\\

So, x° would be the exterior angle of \triangle AEP.

Hence, by remote interior angle theorem of a triangle, we have:

x =  38° +  42°\\\huge\purple{\boxed{x =  80° }}\\\\y = 360\degree - 80\degree\\\huge\red{\boxed{y= 280\degree}}

for the opening day of a carnival, 800 admission tickets were sold. The receipts totaled $3775. Tickets for children cost $3 eac
zloy xaker [14]
Total tickets sold  = 800
Total revenue = $3775

Ticket costs:
$3  per child,
$8  per adult,
$5 per senior citizen.

Of those who bought tickets, let
x =  number of children
y = number of adults
z = senior citizens

Therefore
x + y + z = 800                   (1)
3x + 8y + 5z = 3775           (2)

Twice as many children's tickets were sold as adults. Therefore
x = 2y                                (3)

Substitute (3) into (1) and (2).
2y + y + z = 800, or
3y + z = 800, or
z = 800 - 3y                        (4)
3(2y) + 8y + 5z = 3775, or
14y + 5z = 3775                 (5)

Substtute (4) nto (5).
14y + 5(800 - 3y) = 3775
-y = -225
y = 225
From (4), obtain
z = 800 - 3y = 125
From (3), obtain
x = 2y = 450

Answer:
The number of tickets sold was:
450 children,
225  adults,
125 senior citizens.

Find the value of x and the value of y.
Elan Coil [88]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the diagram ,

Hypotenuse = 10√3

Opposite = x

Adjacent = y

α = 60

Using SOHCAHTOA ,

Sin α = opp / hyp

Sin 60= x/10√3

√3/2= x/10√3

x = 15

Pythagoras theorem ;

Hypotenuse ^2 = Opposite ^2 +Adjacent ^2

10√3 ^2 = 15^2+ y^2

300 = 225 +y ^2

300 -225 = y^2

75 = y^2

y = √75y

y = 5√3
