Well because it is the amount that the nutritional facts are given on, say you buy a box of donuts, and it says 80 calories that could be for a 2 donuts for 1 for the whole package but knowing the serving size you can base how much you eat etc
I believe teens definitely are most concerned about muscular strength. They are more worried about that because they want to protect themselves, impress others, sometimes kids just want to bulk up to not look so wimpy, etc.
I would have to say teens are less worried about flexibility because when you have mussels why worry about doing the splits or putting your leg up to your head. One thing will always distract you from the rest.

It could possibly be mental because it has to do what you believe in but it could also be social because you need your parents and peers/ culture to define who you are and what you choose to be
