In a spreadsheet, you can use the function NORM.DIST(upper bound, μ, σ, TRUE) to find the area under a normal curve for values o

f x less than or equal to a specified upper bound. Suppose the heights of all the children in a state are normally distributed with a mean of 41 inches and a standard deviation of 4 inches. What is the probability that a randomly chosen child is greater than 34 inches tall?

Given Information:

Mean height of children = μ = 41 inches

Standard deviation of height of children = σ = 4 inches

Required Information:

Using Excel find P(x > 34) = ?

Answer:

P(x > 34) = 95.99%

Explanation:

What is Normal Distribution?

We are given a Normal Distribution, which is a continuous probability distribution and is symmetrical around the mean. The shape of this distribution is like a bell curve and most of the data is clustered around the mean. The area under this bell shaped curve represents the probability.

The Microsoft Excel has a built-in function "NORMDIST" which calculates the probability of a normal distribution.

Syntax:

NORMDIST(x, mean, standard deviation, cumulative flag)

Where x is the variable of interest

Cumulative flag = TRUE or FALSE

The probability that a randomly chosen child is greater than 34 inches tall is given by

P(x > 34) = 1 - P(x < 34)

Using MS Excel,

P(x > 34) = 1 - NORM.DIST(34,41,4,TRUE)

Which return the probability of

P(x > 34) = 1 - 0.040059

P(x > 34) = 0.959941

P(x > 34) = 95.99%

Therefore, there is 95.99% probability that a randomly chosen child is greater than 34 inches tall.

You would keep the 2 hour for the whole number of the mixed number and then, make the minutes (15) as a fraction with 60, and divide them both by 20. that is just for the mixed number.

Answer:

  see below

Step-by-step explanation:

Putting each equation in standard form is a good start.

1. Divide the first equation by 2. Divide the second equation by -5.

  • x +2y = 2
  • x - y = -1

2. Divide the first equation by 2; multiply the second by -1.

  • x +2y = 2
  • 3x -y = 1

3. Divide the first equation by 2.

  • x +2y = 2
  • 7x +5y = -1

4. Divide the first equation by 2.

  • x +2y = 2
  • 7x -y = 5

5. Divide the first equation by 2.

  • x +2y = 2
  • 7x -y = -1

Ava is 23 cm taller than Olivia, and Olive is half the height of Lucas. If Lucas is1.78 m tall, how tall are Ava and Olive? Expr
bonufazy [111]
Ava's Height = a
Olivia's Height = o
Lucas' Height = l

We know from the question that;

o =  \frac{1}{2}l

If Lucas is 1.78m tall, then he is 178cm tall, so l = 178

o = \frac{1}{2}178

o = 89

We also know that;

a + 23 = o

As we have worked out that o = 89,

a + 23 = 89

a = 89 - 23

a= 66

\boxed  {a = 66cm, o = 89cm}

JKL and RST are shown below. Which of the following statements is true? Look at picture.
DiKsa [7]

Answer:

Triangle JLK congruent to Triangle RTS is the only true statement

Step-by-step explanation:

AngleJKL is not corresponding to AngleRTS because AngleRTS is a right angle and AngleJKL is not.

The triangles are congruent by HL because one leg and the hypotenuse are congruent.

Triangle congruence can be determined so the third statement is incorrect.

TR is not congruent to KJ. TR=3.7 and KJ=4.5
