Annie was told that her math test score was 3 standard deviations below the mean. If test scores were approximately normal with

μ=99 and σ=4, what was Annie's score? Do not include units in your answer. For example, if you found that the score was 99 points, you would enter 99.

Answer:

X \sim N(99,4)

Where \mu=99 and \sigma=4

We want to find the Annie's score takign in count that the score is 3 deviations below the mean, so then we can find the value with this formula:

X = \mu -3\sigma

And replacing we got:

X = 99 -3*4 = 87

So then the Annie's score would be 87

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X the random variable that represent the test scores of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(99,4)

Where \mu=99 and \sigma=4

We want to find the Annie's score takign in count that the score is 3 deviations below the mean, so then we can find the value with this formula:

X = \mu -3\sigma

And replacing we got:

X = 99 -3*4 = 87

So then the Annie's score would be 87

David is going to buy a cooker.
valina [46]

Answer:

David should pay £48 as deposit.

Step-by-step explanation:

Price of cooker = £320

Deposit price of Cooker = 15%

We need to find How much money does David pay as a deposit?

For finding deposit money we will find:

15% of 320

Solving:

15\% \ of \ 320\\=15\% \times 320\\=\frac{15}{100}\times 320 \\=48

So, David should pay £48 as deposit.

((Use the graph shown below to fill in the blank.))
Valentin [98]
The point (4,y) has a known x coordinate of x = 4. The y coordinate is unknown right now so we'll just call it y.

Draw a vertical line (see side note below) through 4 on the x axis. I've done so in red (see attached image). The red line crosses the graph at the point (4,1) so this tells us that y = 1

Answer: y = 1

Side Note: you don't have to draw a vertical red line but it's handy to see how it works out. After you get used to these types of problems, you can visually be able to see the answer without these extra lines.
