1) In the 1920s, women were able to vote.

2) In WWI, as a large portion of men were drafted into the war , the women became the breadwinner and provided for their children, maintained the household, and worked. Initially, men were expected to do the hard labor in the middle class , but the war changed that.

Women had a stronger voice in both the household and representation.
