Give an example of a negative correlation and explain why it is not causation.
Dafna1 [17]
A negative correlation is one in which as one variable increases, the other goes down. Some studies have shown that as the use of video games increases, the gpa score decreases. That's a negative correlation.

A negative correlation can never be a cause. The reason is the direction each of the variables is going. If the thing that might cause the other variable to go down, then the first variable is not a cause.

You need a positive correlation to claim that one is the cause of the other.
So for example, if you contribute to brainly and answer questions, and give give answers, your understanding of the subject matter is likely to go up.

Giving good answers could be a cause for better marks.

What is the solution to the compound inequality 5x + 7 > −8 and 3x + 7 ≤ 19?
Cerrena [4.2K]
Solve each

5x+7>-8
minus 7 both sides
5x>-15
divide by 5
x>-3

3x+7≤19
minus 7 both sides
3x≤12
divide by 3
x≤4

so we got
x>-3 AND x≤4
and means that the solution set must satisfy both at once
so x is bigger than -3 and less than or equal to 4
so between -3 and 4 including 4
-3<x≤4

A librarian wants to spend no more than $800 on some new desks and chairs for the library. The librarian decides to spend $320 o
sertanlavr [38]

Answer:

20 chairs

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we are given the amount total budget and the total amount for the desks then the only variable missing is the maximum amount of chairs. This can be solved with the following equation in which s represents the number of chairs, and we simply solve for s.

800 = 320 + 24s  ... subtract both sides by 300

500 = 24s ... divide both sides by 24

20.83 = s

Now we see that the maximum number of chairs that the librarian can buy is 20 because 21 would make her go over the budget and you cannot have 0.83 of a chair.
