Which of the following is a correct proportion?

Mathematics
2 answers:

First, we'll solve A.

2 x2 = 4

3 x2 = 9

3x2=6, not 9.

So it is not A.

5 x2 = 10

7 x2 = 11

7x2=14, not 11.

So B. is out too.

It isn't D. because 12/9 is improper and 3/4 isn't.

So C. is left.

4 x2 = 8

6 x2 = 12

hope it helps!

<h3>Answer: Choice C</h3><h3>4/6 = 8/12</h3>

===============================================

Explanation:

Let's go through the answer choices

-----------

Choice A.

Assume that the given equation here is correct. If so, then we can cross multiply to get

2/3 = 4/9

2*9 = 3*4

18 = 12

The last equation is false, so the first equation is also false. Choice A is not the answer.

-------------

Choice B.

We could do the similar trick as with choice A, but I'll use another method.

Use your calculator to find that

5/7 = 0.714 approx

10/11 = 0.909 approx

We get different decimal values for each fraction, so there's no way the two sides are the same. Choice B is crossed off the list.

-------------

Choice C.

I'll use another method here. Note how the denominators are 6 and 12, and how 6*2 = 12. If we multiply top and bottom of 4/6 by 2, then

(4/6)*(2/2) = (4*2)/(6*2) = 8/12

meaning that 4/6 = 8/12 is a true equation. We can see it through cross multiplication

4/6 = 8/12

4*12 = 6*8

48 = 48

or we could use our calculator to find that

4/6 = 0.667 approx

8/12 = 0.667 approx

Another calculator trick you can use is type in "4/6 - 8/12" without quotes and you should get 0 (or very close to it) as a result. This is using the idea that if x = y, then x-y = 0.

Choice C is the answer

----------------

Choice D.

Since we found the answer, we technically don't need to check choice D. But let's do so anyway.

Right off the bat, we know that 3/4 is less than one, while 12/9 is greater than one. So there's no way 3/4 = 12/9 could be true.

The value of x that satisfies the equation 4/3=x+10/15
kenny6666 [7]

For this case we must find the value of "x" that meets the following equation:

\frac {4} {3} = x + \frac {10} {15}

We subtract \frac {10} {15} on both sides of the equation:

\frac {4} {3} - \frac {10} {15} = x\\\frac {15 * 4-3 * 10} {3 * 15} = x\\\frac {60-30} {45} = x\\- \frac {30} {45} = x

We simplify:

x =\frac {6} {9}=\frac{2}{3}

Finally, x =\frac {2} {3}

Answer:

x =\frac {2} {3}

HELP ASAP TEST SOON IMMA FAIL THAT B! HELLLPPPPP! DUE IN 10 MINS HELP! 1. What equation is represented on the graph below?
eduard

Step-by-step explanation:

1 is the starting point since it is on the the axis.

then you would use the rise over run method to get the fraction. it rises by two and runs by 1 which would get you 2/1. so the answer should be y=1+2/1

(it is an addition sign since it is a positive slope)

There are 3/4 as many boys as girls in a class of fifth-graders. If there are 35 students in the class, how many are girls?
oee [108]

Known Facts:

  • 3/4 as many boys as girls in a class
  • Five students in the class

Variables:

  • b: boys
  • g: girls

Let us set up some equations:

  • b + g = 35
  • b = (3/4)g

Now let us solve the equation:

   b + g =35

   (3/4)g + g = 35

    (7/4)g = 35

     g = 20

Therefore there are 20 girls in a class of 35!

Good day and I hope that helped!

19. The value of x varies directly with y, and 2 when x = z; y = 6. Find the value of y when x = 107 A. y = 9 B.y = 4 C. y = 93
Svet_ta [14]

Given data:

The first value of x is x=2/3.

The first value of y is y=6.

The expression y is directlly proportional to x is,

y=kx

Substitute 2/3 for x and 6 for y in the above expression.

\begin{gathered} 6=\frac{2}{3}k \\ k=9 \end{gathered}

The expression becomes y=9x

Substitute 10 1/3 for x in the above expression.

\begin{gathered} y=9(10\frac{1}{3}) \\ =9(\frac{31}{3}) \\ =93 \end{gathered}

Thus, the value of y is 93.

Ganezh [65]

Answer:

d=2\sqrt{34}

Step-by-step explanation:

Applying Pythagoras theorem on right angle triangle

radius=r=\sqrt{(3)^2+(5)^2}

r=\sqrt{34}
