17 - True, neurons are the most significant or basic unit for transferring nervous signals throughout the body. Nerves which are linked act as wires for connection. The brain wouldn't be able to send or receive signals if there were no neurons

18 - False, hormones are just chemical molecules or messengers that are sent towards tissues or organs through the bloodstream to help regulate the growth or metabolism through homeostasis process

19 - True, axons are the longest part of a neuron which helps for neurotransmission process throughout the whole nerve to the end of the motor neuron

Which of the following sequences is correct for the downhill movement of electrons during cellular respiration? A. glucose – cit
Volgvan

Answer:

B. glucose – NADH – electron transport – O2

Explanation:

This is the sequence  from glycolysis in which  glucose molecules are split down to pyruvate, to oxidative phosphorylation.

During this process the electrons are released from glucose  molecule as it is oxidised multiple times as pyruvate, and other molecules formed subsequently in Kreb's cycle, until the oxidative phosphorylation is reached .

The makes the  carrier molecules to be reduced. Thus NAD→NADH,FAD→FADH .

The electrons from above are  transferred in hydrogen atoms  to matrix by these co-enzymes.Where the H is split to electrons  and protons.

The electrons for the ETC, produce the PMF for transporting  protons into the intramembrane space.

The concentration of protons generated the electrochemical gradients  which is needed to produce energy for for phosphorylation of ADP with Pi to form ATP by ATpase synthase.

The electrons moves as chain, and this is finally accepted by oxygen as the final electron acceptor.

How does sunlight affect aquatic life in the Blue Cypress Lake?
wlad13 [49]

Answer:

Blue Cypress Lake, originally called Lake Wilmington, is a lake in Indian River County of the Treasure Coast in Florida. It is the largest lake in the Treasure Coast and Indian River County. It is the headwaters lake of the St. Johns River. The sources of water are several creeks from the south (Mudfish Slough, Padget Branch, Holman Canal, and Fisher Creek), two from the west (Trim Creek, Blue Cypress Creek), and Moonshine Bay from the North that flow into the lake. All the water flows out of the lake to the northwest into M Canal and Zigzag Canal. The lake is over 6,500 acres (26 km²) in size, 21 mi (34 km) in circumference, and has an average depth of 8 feet (2 m). The lake is 2,100 acres (8.7 km²) larger than Lake Washington, 27 mi (43 km) north of this lake. The lake's name comes from the blue appearance of the cypress trees as the morning sun's rays reflect off the water. A fishing camp called Blue Cypress Lakeside Cabins is 4 mi (6 km) off State Road 60. The Blue Cypress Village (about 70 units) is south of the small boat canal from the fish camp.

The diagram represents a model of how bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic, allowing bacteria to survive treatment. Which
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Genetic mutations randomly occur in the population of cells. If, by chance, there is a mutation that gives the bacterial cell resistance to an antibiotic, then that mutation will remain in the population.

This is because it gives the cell a competitive advantage (because it is more likely to survive than its non-resistant counterparts). If it survives, it will divide and pass the mutation on to its daughter cells, which will survive. This keeps happening until an entire population will carry the mutation.

If you observed the sister chromatids separating during cell division, what phase of mitosis would you be observing?
Sidana [21]
This is the anaphase of mitosis. Anaphase is characterized by the separation of sister chromatids or "pulling away" of the sister chromatids from the metaphase plate to the opposite spindle poles. This is also the phase where chromosomes reach its maximum condensation meaning that the process of the reformation of the nucleus will be shorter and easier.
