Answer:

"Nothing succeeds like the appearance of success."

Explanation:

Christopher R. Lasch was born on the 1st of June, 1932 in Nebraska, United States of America and died on the 14th of February, 1994 in New York. He was an American social critic, historian, and moralist.

Using the "culture of narcissism" Christopher sought to awaken the consciousness of American citizens to the ubiquitous manner with which major public and private firms were gradually destroying their interdependence and competence.

The quote "Nothing succeeds like the appearance of success" simply means that once you're able to succeed at something, you're more likely to be successful at another stage.

What does Cortés tell Montezuma that is a complete lie?
JulsSmile [24]

Answer:

In 1519 the conquistador Hernan Cortes advanced deep into the kingdom of Montezuma in an attempt to seize his treasures. He tried to stop Hernan Cortes' attack on his country and sent messengers to Cortes and begged him to return to Spain, offering him valuable gifts of gold and colorful feathers. But the gifts increased Cortes' curiosity and greed, so he proceeded to force many Indians to join his army. Montezuma respectfully waited for Cortes and his army outside the city.

In the face of Cortes' attack, Montezuma did not dare to do anything to drive out the invaders. Because according to an ancient legend, the natives believed that sons of the Sun, white gods from the East, would come to occupy the country. The Spaniards invaded the temple during a ceremony and killed the entire Mexican aristocracy. Cortes forced Montezuma to persuade his former nationals to surrender. But the people ignored him. It is claimed that he was stoned by the natives. A horrible bloodshed ensued in which Cortes proved his courage, as it is a real miracle how he managed to escape from the insurgent city, cross the entire enemy country and reach the shore again. Of course he soon returned with new troops and destroyed the prosperous city. Montezuma, according to others, died of starvation because he refused to eat because of Cortes's insult. There is a newer view that he was assassinated by the Spanish conquerors.

What powers remained with the king after the magna carta and how were they important
Marizza181 [45]

King John ruled England for almost two decades (1199-1216) and was well known as a heavy handed ruler. He would often wage unnecessary wars and burden his subjects with heavy taxes to pay for them. King John begrudgingly signed the Magna Carta because he needed the barons to fight his wars and collect his taxes.

How were the economic impacts of World War II similar in the United States<br> and the Soviet Union?
Goryan [66]

Answer:

The United States  and the Soviet Union gained most from World War II.

Explanation:

The war strengthened the position of the United States, that began in World War One. A growing international monetary system was formed by the 1944 Bretton Woods accord. It substituted the gold standard as the global currency, with the U.S. dollar. Because it became the only nation with the ability to print dollars, it constructed an image of superpower. The Soviet Union on the other hand took lead at the Eastern front. It made communism popular in the eastern European countries which were freshly liberated from German rule. therefore the two become the most economically prosperous countries after the Second World War.
