How is the mass of the atom calculated?

Chemistry

Answer: By adding the number of protons and neutrons

Explanation:

Protons and neutrons have very similar masses and are used in calculating the mass of an atom. One would calculate the mass of an atom by doing the (mass of a proton) x (# of protons) + (mass of a neutron) x (# of neutrons). Electrons have such a small mass that their mass is considered negligible  and therefore is not included in mass calculations for atoms.

mass of a proton: 1.67262 × 10−27 kg

mass of a neutron: 1.67493×10−27 kg

mass of an electron: 9.10938 × 10-31 kg

Select the electron-domain geometry for a molecule with three bonding domains and one nonbonding domain.
mamaluj [8]

Answer: C) Tetrahedral

Explanation:

The number of electron pairs is 4 that means the hybridization will be sp^3 but as there are three bonding domains and one nonbonding domain, thus electronic geometry is tetrahedral and the molecular geometry will be trigonal pyramidal.

Linear electron geometry is possible when number of electron pairs is 2 and the hybridization will be sp^2.

Trigonal planar geometry is possible when number of electron pairs is 3 and the hybridization will be sp^3.

Trigonal bipyramidal geometry is possible when number of electron pairs is 5 and the hybridization will be sp^3d.

Octahedral geometry is possible when number of electron pairs is 6 and the hybridization will be sp^3d^2.

The solubility of oxygen gas in water at 25 °c and 1.0 atm pressure of oxygen is 0.041 g/l. the solubility of oxygen in water at
NemiM [27]
According to Henry's law, solubility is proportional to the external pressure. Since both cases in the problem have the same temperature, only the pressure varies from 1.0 atm to 2.5 atm. This means that just as the pressure is multiplied by a factor of 2.5, we can multiply the solubility by a factor of 2.5 as well. This gives us 0.041 g/L * 2.5 = 0.1025 g/L.

Where is lithium and Flourine found on the periodic table?? :)
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

Hello! Lithium is a Alkali metal, and is located on the left of the periodic table, right below Hydrogen (H), and right above Sodium (NA) .

Fluorine is located on the right of the table, next to Oxygen (O) and Neon (NE), and right above Chlorine (Cl).

Hope this helps !! :)
