There is a large tree growing in the middle of the lawn. You notice that there are lots of daisies in the lawn, but none under t

he tree. Suggest two hypotheses to explain why there are no daisies under the tree. Choose one of your hypotheses and make a prediction from it which can be tested by an experiment. Describe an experiment which could be done to find out if the prediction is correct.

Answer and Explanation:

Hypothesis:

1- No daisies can grow under the tree because its canopy does not allow enough radiation to reach the ground under it.

2- No daisies can grow under the tree because it changes the soil composition and pH.

Prediction:

Daisies grow better and faster when they are completely exposed to solar radiation.

Experiment:

 • 30 daises young plants, grown under the same conditions, will be planted in three different parcels. Planting will take place during spring.
 • The three parcels will have the same soil, with all the nutritional requirements that daisies need to grow properly. The three parcels will be watered every day to keep equal humidity conditions.
 • The variable under study is the radiation, so this is the only factor that will differ between parcels. One of the parcels will be completely exposed to solar radiation. A second parcel will receive sunlight during half of the day, while the other half of the day will be under the shadow. The third parcel will be completely under the shadow (no radiation will reach this parcel).
 • Daisies will be grown for four months. Every fifteen days all the plants will be counted in each parcel to check their survival. Their length will be measured, and the presence of new leaves, floral buttons, and ramifications will be registered. The size of the leaves and flowers will also be registered.
 • After four months, data will be analyzed to evaluate how does the radiation influence the plants' growth.

yanalaym [24]
The correct answer is Protozoans.
Protozoans are best described as uni-celled eukaryotic organisms, both free-residing or parasitic, which feed on organic matter together with different microorganisms or organic tissues and particles. back then, the protozoa have been seemed as "one-celled animals," because they regularly possess animal-like behaviors, together with motility and predation, and lack a mobile wall, as discovered in plant life and plenty of algae.

Fossils may be:
Andru [333]

Answer:

The correct answer is option (e)-"All of the answer choices are correct".

Explanation:

Fossils are defined as the remains of ancient organisms. Fossils are obtained from impressions left after an organism decays. There are different kinds of fossils depending on the material they are made of and how they were formed. Some fossils are made from minerals that are the replacement of the organic matter of the ancient organism, or are the replacement of mud that came from footprints. Alternatively, fossils could be plant resins or tar that preserved a specimen within.

What do ferromagnesian (mafic) minerals have in common? List three examples of mafic minerals?
saveliy_v [14]

Ferromagnesian minerals are minerals that have iron or magnesium in their structure. The greater specific gravity is between 3.2 and 3.6. Some examples are pyroxene, biotite, garnet, and olvine.

Most mafic minerals are dark in color, and common rock-forming mafic minerals include olivine, pyroxene, amphibole, and biotite. Common mafic rocks include basalt, diabase and gabbro. Mafic rocks often also contain calcium-rich varieties of plagioclase feldspar.

How might the understanding of cells help in treating a disease?
Anuta_ua [19.1K]
In finding disease we must find its cause and we are made up of cells so every disease has something to do with our cells so if we understand we can know what is Poisson or what will damage it like smoking .

Hope this helps
