Define physical fitness principles listed below.
Katarina [22]

The Overload Principle: Recommends that you need to stress in order to improve.

The F.I.T.T. Principle: Is used to help one's achieve fitness goal by working out the frequency of training sessions, intensity of different sessions, duration of sessions and the type of exercise in the session such as strength or endurance.

The Specificity Principle: Sports training should correspond to the sport the individual is training for to reach their desired goal.

The Rest and Recovery Principle: Mentions that people need time to rest and recover after vigorous training sessions.

The Use It or Lose It Principle: Implies that you need to workout certain body muscles if you want to maintain your muscle mass. If you stop working out as often as you used to you will lose muscle mass and it will take a longer period of time for your to build up the muscle mass that you lost.

When skeletal muscles are trained by adding physical stress to them, this is called _____.
tangare [24]

Answer:

When skeletal muscles are trained by adding physical stress to them, this is called progressive resistance training (PRT).

Explanation:

During PRT, muscles are exercised against an overload or resistance; the overload is gradually increased in order to allow muscles to adapt. This allows for progressive strength increases over time.

Muscle fatigue is defined as a reduction in the ability to produce force due to exercise. This comprises:

 • peripheral fatigue- due to changes at the junction between motor neurons and the muscle.
 • central fatigue- caused by a reduced capacity to use voluntary force in relation to the capacity to use involuntary force
 • and muscle damage- this is associated with several issues at the cellular level such as disrupted membranes and cytoskeletons; and tissue damage via torn muscle fibers, and collagen.

Overall, these may affect muscle fiber activation and the amount of force they are capable of producing- i.e. sustained strength. However, muscle fatigue can be greatly reduced via the maintenance of PRT. Also, apart from strength gains, PRT is used for weight loss and muscle building; common tools used in PRT include free weights, elastic bands and exercise machines.

Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

A syndrome involving the compression of nerves and blood vessels due to swelling within the enclosed space created by the fascia that separate groups of muscles is known as Compartment Syndrome

Explanation:

Muscle groups of the human limbs are categorized into sections or compartments. So compartment syndrome occurs when there is an increased pressure within a compartment which compromises circulation and function to the tissues within that area which results in swelling of that specific area
