Antibiotics are routinely introduced into the food of cattle, chickens and other livestock, which causes the animals to grow fas

ter. Since the cost of antibiotics is low, the use of antibiotics is an easy way to achieve faster weight gain in animals. Explain how this practice could affect the probability of developing populations of antibiotic-resitant bacteria that cause human disease.

Answer:

Bacteria are highly adaptable microorganisms who have the capability of developing defense mechanisms against that which may harm them. Not least important of all, is the easiness with which some bacteria, especially pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella, or Klebsiella, develop mechanisms of resistance to antiseptics and, most importantly, antibiotics.

Antibiotics are a chemical substance that was created, and has been developed, in order to be able to combat pathogenic microorganisms, specifically bacteria. However, because today these substances are being used indiscriminately, we are now seeing a very worrying pattern of antibiotic-resistance patterns in microorganisms that used to be sensible to them. The result, we are facing strains of pathogenic bacteria, like Klebsiella pneumonia and E. Coli, that have become resistan to all types of antibiotics, from first generation, to fourth generation. And this has meant that when people acquire infection by these pathogens, the likelihood of death by them has increased because there are no agents capable of combating them.

Exposure to antibiotics has been the sole reason why these resistant strains of bacteria have emerged, especially when these antibiotics are not necessary. And feeding these substances to animals, to ensure their development and weight gain, has not made the situation any better. Now, we are instead adding also bacteria to the list that did not use to be resistant, but that are becoming so as they become adjusted to the constant exposure to antibiotics. Again, the result has been: more people infected with bacterial strains that cannot be combated with any of the existing antibiotic agents.

The nurse is caring for a patient prescribed enoxaparin. which laboratory values should the nurse monitor?
Pepsi [2]

The nurse is caring for a patient prescribed enoxaparin. The nurse should monitor Complete Blood Count (CBC) and basic metabolic panel (BMP), prothrombin time (PT).

Enoxaparin is low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) and it is used to treat and prevent clinical conditions such as acute coronary syndromes, pulmonary embolism (PE), deep venous thrombosis (DVT), venous thromboembolism (VTE) treatment, and periprocedural anticoagulation.

Enoxaparin has the identical side effects as heparin. Since antidote such as protamine has reduced effectiveness, bleeding complications can be fatal and life-threatening.

As pressure in the aorta rises due to atherosclerosis, more ventricular pressure is required to open the aortic valve.
Luda [366]

Answer:

The answer is A true

Explanation:

The accumulation of atheroma plaque on the wall of the aorta leads to a stiffness of the aorta, which makes the intraluminal pressure greater, which is reflected in a greater force that the ventricle has to make to eject the blood to the aorta.

One option for cancer treatment is removal of the ____________ , especially if detected at an early stage.
GalinKa [24]

Answer: tumor

Explanation:

- Tumors, which are lumps of tissue occur when cells divide and grow excessively in the body. Tumors can be cancerous or not cancerous (benign). Cancerous tumors spread into, or invade, nearby tissues and can travel to distant places in the body to form new tumors.

- If possible, an option for cancer treatment is removal of the tumor which is fueling the cancer. The idea is that when you take out the source, everything else will clear up and you should ultimately be cancer free. Although it is one of the best options, it is not always successful.

hope this helps :)
