I'm not sure of the exact word you are looking for, but the general idea is that the federal law will always reign supreme if there is ever a conflict between the federal and state laws. Federal law is superior or higher-ranking or more preferable, etc.

Here is the exact phrasing from Article VI of the US Constitution: "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."

I need some help with these questions for economics please.
Brums [2.3K]

1. The difference between a bond and a stock is that stocks are shares that represent ownership in a company, and bonds are a form of long-term debt where you invest your money (essentially, a business loans money FROM you and promises to pay it back by a certain date). You should see a sizable return at the end of a bond's maturity date.

2. What makes a mutual fund an attractive investing option is that it is a diversified portfolio of different investments, such as bonds and stock. Since it is more spread out there is less overall risk.

3. A commercial bank differs from a Savings and Loan (S&L) association because S&L associations are more focused on residential mortgage, whereas commercial banks work more with large businesses.

4. A commercial bank differs from a credit union because most credit unions are not-for-profit establishments with their earnings paid back in the form of lower loan rates and higher savings rates. Commercial banks are for-profit and whatever they earn are paid back to stockholders only.

Roman55 [17]

Answer:

The loss of a lost one, especially one as meaningful as a husband, can be devastating and even harmful for anyone. What will make a difference on whether the person will be able to pull through, or not, are two things, two inner, two external: personal strength, given by a person´s personality qualities and belief system, and the second, the cultural and social bases that the person has, meaning, support networks, socialization, religious beliefs and family.

Given the case of Sylvia and Joanne, although both women have taken the death of their loved ones very hard, and given that we do not have any further information on them except that one has a belief system based on religion, and the other doesn´t, we can predict that Sylvia counts with two factors, mentioned above, that will help her heal much faster than Joanne, even if both women may find that relief at some point. Sylvia has the strength of inner belief boosted by religious beliefs, which provide columns on which she can lean to understand what happened, make sense of it, and thus heal. And two, she also will have access to a broader network of support, because religious groups tend to become some of the strongest networks for people.

What was one of Nixon's greatest successes?
Luda [366]

As part of this policy, Nixon signed the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and SALT I, two landmark arms control treaties with the Soviet Union. Nixon promulgated the Nixon Doctrine, which called for indirect assistance by the United States rather than direct U.S. commitments as seen in the ongoing Vietnam War.
