Hydrogen iodide is not produced by the same method is for hydrogen chloride why with reaction
Masja [62]

Using Phosphoric acid will work perfectly for producing Hydrogen halides because its not an Oxidizing agent. ...

Using an ionic chloride and Phosphoric acid

H3PO4 + NaCl ==> HCl + NaH2PO4

H3PO4 + NaI ==> HI + NaH2PO4

H2SO4 + NaCl ==> HCl + NaHSO4

This method(Using H2So4) will work for all hydrogen hydrogen halide except Hydrogen Iodide and Hydrogen Bromide.

The Sulphuric acid won't be useful for producing Hydrogen Iodide because its an OXIDIZING AGENT. Whist producing the Hydrogen Iodide... Some of the Iodide ions are oxidized to Iodine.

sample of substance X has a mass of 326.0 g releases 4325.8 cal when it freezes at its freezing point. If substance X has a mola
ELEN [110]
Number of moles ( substance x ):

1 mole --------- 58.45 g/mol
? mole --------- 326.0 g

326.0 x 1 / 58.45 => 5.577 moles

 heat of fusion:

hf = Cal / moles

hf = 4325.8 Cal / 5.577 moles

hf = 775.65 cal/mol

hope this helps!

What role does valence electrons play in reactivity for an element?
kirza4 [7]

Explanation:

The valence electrons within an atom is the number of electrons in its outermost shell.

These electrons are used by an atom to react with one another. They  determine the extent to which an atom is ready to combine either by losing, gaining or sharing these electrons.

  • Every atom desires to have a completely filled outermost shell.
  • Only the elements in group 8 have a complete octet.
  • The need to attain stability is driven by the number of electrons in their valence shell.
  • Therefore, some atoms are very reactive.
  • Those needing one electrons to complete their octet and also those that must lose one electron are very reactive.

Daniel [21]
Because dalton had the facts from other's experiments. Democritus just had an unproven theory.
