The numbers you are multiplying would be smaller and hence the multiplication calculations would be simplified. This will be especially pertinent when you are doing calculus or algebra and you need to multiply different polynomials. Dividing out common factors is also common in some maths questions to derive the final answer or to prove an equation.

Not every straight line will pass the vertical line test. What is the only type
Art [367]
<h3>Answer: B) vertical line</h3>

A vertical line has all points with the same x coordinate, but infinitely many different y coordinates. It inherently fails the vertical line test because we can pass a single straight line through more than one point on the function curve.

Put another way, the input is a single value but there's infinitely many outputs. A function must have each input produce exactly one output. This is of course only when the input is in the domain.

Find the equations of all lines tangent to y = 9–x^2 that pass through the point (1, 12). ...?
Oksanka [162]
The slope of the tangent at a given point can be found by differentiating the given equation and substituting the value of x at the point as such:
y = 9 - x²
dy/dx = -2x; x = 1
dy/dx = -2

For a line with the slope of -2 and passing through point (1 , 12)
y -12 = -2(x - 1)
