Answer:

Question 1

Original Equation:

-3n-4n-17=25

Add 17 to both sides (cancels out the -17)

-3n-4n=42

Combine -3n and -4n.

-7n=42

Divide by -7

n = -6

Question 2

Original Equation:

-15+7.5(2d-1)=7.5

Distribute:

-15+15d-7.5=7.5

Add 7.5 to both sides:

-15+15d=15

Add 15 to both sides:

15d=30

Divide by 15:

d = 2

Let me know if this helps!

Answer:

-3n-4n = 25 + 17

-7n = 42

n= -6

the main thing for here is to combine the like terms and to solve for n which is done by putting all the numbers with variables on one side and the non variables on the other and divide each side by the number that has the variable. Remember that when you bring numbers on the other side, you change its sign, for example if you have 5 on one side and you bring to the other side of the equal sign it becomes -5.

-15 + 15d -7.5d =7.5

15d - 7.5d = 7.5 + 15

7.5d = 22.5

d = 3

for the part where theres 7.5(2d-1)

you multiply each number inside the bracket by 7.5, its called distributivity of multiplication

hope that answers your question

hope you understand what i wrote lol

good luck:)

Let

x-------> total peanuts originally from the bag

we know that

1) Phillip took 1/3 of the peanuts from the bag--------> (1/3)*x

remaining=x-(1/3)*x-------> (2/3)*x

2) Joy took 1/4 of the remaining peanuts-------> (1/4)*[(2/3)*x]----> (1/6)*x

remaining= (2/3)*x-(1/6)*x------> (1/2)*x

3) Brett took 1/2 of the remaining peanuts------> (1/2)*(1/2)*x-----> (1/4)*x

remaining= (1/2)*x-(1/4)*x-------> (1/4)*x

4) Preston took 10 peanuts------> 10

(1/4)*x-10=71----> multiply by 4 both sides----> x-40=284----> x=324 peanuts

5) Total originally peanuts from the bag is equal to 324 peanuts

6) Phillip took (1/3)*x-----> (1/3)*324=108 peanuts

7) Joy took (1/6)*x------> (1/6)*324=54 peanuts

8) Brett took (1/4)*x------> (1/4)*324=81 peanuts

9) Preston took 10

so

check

108+54+81+10=253

remaining=324-253------> remaining=71-------> is correct

Let point L be between M and N on MN. Given that MN=31, ML= h-15 and LN = 2h-8. Find LN.
shtirl [24]
Given that <span>point L is between M and N on MN. Then
MN = ML + LN
31 = h - 15 + 2h - 8 = 3h - 23
3h = 31 + 23 = 54
h = 54/3 = 18

Therefore, LN = 2(18) - 8 = 36 - 8 = 28.
