3. An engine’s fuel is heated to 2,000 K and the surrounding air is 300 K. Calculate the ideal efficiency of the engine. Hint: T

he efficiency (e) of a Carnot engine is defined as the ratio of the work (W) done by the engine to the input heat QH : e=W/QH. W=QH – QC, where Qc is the output heat. That is, e=1-Qc/QH =1-Tc/TH, where Tc for a temperature of the cold reservoir and TH for a temperature of the hot reservoir. The unit of temperature must be in Kelvin.

Answer: E = 0.85

Therefore the efficiency is: E = 0.85 or 85%

Explanation:

The efficiency (e) of a Carnot engine is defined as the ratio of the work (W) done by the engine to the input heat QH

E = W/QH.

W=QH – QC,

Where Qc is the output heat.

That is,

E=1 - Qc/QH

E =1 - Tc/TH

where Tc for a temperature of the cold reservoir and TH for a temperature of the hot reservoir.

Note: The unit of temperature must be in Kelvin.

Tc = 300K

TH = 2000K

Substituting the values of E, we have;

E = 1 - 300K/2000K

E = 1 - 0.15

E = 0.85

Therefore the efficiency is: E = 0.85 or 85%

To solve this problem we must keep in mind the concepts related to angular kinematic equations. For which the angular velocity is defined as

\omega_f =\omega_i-\alpha t

Where

\omega_f = Final angular velocity

\omega_i = Initial angular velocity

\alpha =Angular acceleration

t= time

In this case we do not have a final angular velocity, then

\omega_i = \alpha t

Re-arrange for \alpha

\alpha= \frac{\omega_i}{t}

\alpha = \frac{910}{0.167}

\alpha = 5449.1 rad\s^2

Therefore the mangitude of the angular aceleration is 5449.1rad/s²

An electromagnetic wave has a frequency of 6.0 x 10^18 Hz. What is the
jonny [76]

Answer:

Wavelength = 5 * 10^{-11} meters

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Frequency = 6.0 x 10^18 Hz

Speed = 3 * 10⁸ m/s

To find the wavelength of the wave;

Mathematically, the wavelength of a wave is given by the formula;

Wavelength = \frac {speed}{frequency}

Substituting into the formula, we have;

Wavelength = \frac {3 * 10^{8}}{6.0 x 10^{18}}

Wavelength = 5 * 10^{-11} meters
