You know that one number, n, is four times as much as the other number, and you know that both of these numbers added together give you 60. So you can put together the equation 4n+n=60. Four times a number plus another number equals 60. You add n to 4n to get 5n , then you seperate 5 from n and move 5 to the other side of the eqation. n = 60/5 Don't forget, if you go back a step, you will see that n is being multiplied by 5, so if you bring it over to the other side of the equation, then you have to divide it. Then you divide 60 by 5, giving you 12. Now you go back to the original equation (4n+n=60) and input 12 everywhere you see n. 4(12) + (12) = 60. Multiply 4 and 12 to get 48 as your fist number, and 12 as your second number. Hope this helped!

Write the 5th term in the expansion of (5x-y/2)^7
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

65625/4(x^5)(y²)

Step-by-step explanation:

Using binomial expansion

Formula: (n k) (a^k)(b ^(n-k))

Where (n k) represents n combination of k (nCk)

From the question k = 5 (i.e. 5th term)

n = 7 (power of expression)

a = 5x

b = -y/2

....................

Solving nCk

n = 7

k = 5

nCk = 7C5

= 7!/(5!2!) ------ Expand Expression

=7 * 6 * 5! /(5! * 2*1)

= 7*6/2

= 21 ------

.........................

Solving (a^k) (b^(n-k))

a = 5x

b = -y/2

k = 5

n = 7

Substituting these values in the expression

(5x)^5 * (-y/2)^(7-5)

= (3125x^5) * (-y/2)²

= 3125x^5 * y²/4

= (3125x^5)(y²)/4

------------------------------------

Multiplying the two expression above

21 * (3125x^5)(y²)/4

= 65625/4(x^5)(y²)

What is the midpoint of the line segment with endpoints (-2,-2) and (4.6)?
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(-2,2) ...x1 = -2 and y1 = 2

(4,6)..x2 = 4 and y2 = 6

midpoint formula :

m = ((x1 + x2) / 2 , (y1 + y2) / 2)

m = ((-2 + 4) / 2 , (2 + 6) / 2)

m = 2/2 , 8/2

m = (1,4) <===
