A mass hanging from a pendulum at the end of a string of negligible mass. The string has a length of 0.84 m. With the string han

ging vertically, the object is given an initial velocity of 1.4 m/s parallel to the ground and swings upward on a circular arc. Eventually, the object comes to a momentary halt at a point where the string makes an angle θ with its initial vertical orientation and then swings back downward. Find the angle θ.

Explanation:

tan(theta)=(v^2)/(length of string × g)

=(1.4^2)/(0.84 × 9.8m/s )

=1.96/(8.232)

=0.2380952381

theta=arctan(0.2380952381)

=13.4°

How far can a person run in 13.22 minutes if he or she runs at an average speed of 12.33 km/hr?
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

2.72 km

Explanation:

(12.33 km)/ 1 hr * (1 hr)/ 60 min

0.2055 km/ min

distance=rate * time (assuming v is constant,

a=0)

(0.2055 km/ min)*(13.22 min)

2.72 km OR 2716.71 m

If he were able to maintain this constant rate of acceleration, what would have been his speed as he finished the race?
Law Incorporation [45]

a) 4.8 m/s² his average acceleration during the first 2.5 s

b) 15 m distance he cover during the first 2.5 seconds.

c) 31 m/s his speed as he finished the race.

<h3>(a) How to calculate the Average Acceleration ?</h3>

Average acceleration is calculated by using Newtons first law of motion

v = u + at

where

u is initial velocity

v is final velocity

a is constant acceleration

t is time

Given u = 0m/s , v = 12 m/s and t = 2.5 sec

Therefore average acceleration is given by

a=\frac{v}{t}

a=\frac{12}{2.5}

a = 4.8 m/sec²

b) Here we will use newtons second law of motion

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}

On substituting value we get

s = 15m

c) Here we will use newtons third law of motion

v² = u² + 2as

Here u = 0 , a = 4.8 m/s² and s = 100 m

Therefore

v² = 960

v = 31 m/s

a. What was his average acceleration during the first 2.5 s?

b. What distance did he cover during the first 2.5 seconds, assuming his acceleration was constant?

c. If he were able to maintain this constant rate of acceleration, what would have been his speed as he finished the race?

A 4.0-cm tall light bulb is placed at distance of 8.3 cm from a concave mirror having a focal length of 15.2 cm. Determine the i
scoundrel [369]

Answer: the image distance is -18, 28 cm this means behind of the concave mirror. The image size is 2.2 higher that the original  so it has 8.8 cm with the same orientation as original  and it is a virtual imagen.

Explanation: In order to sove the imagen formation for a concave mirror we have to use the following equation:

1/p+1/q=1/f  where p and q represents the distance to the mirror  for the object and imagen, respectively. f is the focal length for the concave mirror.

replacing the values we obtain:

1/8.3+1/q=1/15.2

so 1/q=(1/15.2)-(1/8.3)=-54.7*10^-3

then q=-18.28 cm

The magnification is given by M=-q/p=-(-18,28)/8.3= 2.2

We also add a picture to see the imagen formation for this case.
