Hi!

Let's first expand the cotangent of theta.

You'll probably know that tangent will be "y/x", or \frac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}, and cotangent is the reciprocal of this, meaning that it is "x/y" or \frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}.

That means that we are now given this equation.

cos(x)\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}+sin(x)

That'll multiply to:

\frac{cos^2(x)}{sin(x)}+sin(x)

We'll want a common denominator to add by multiplying sin(x) to both top and bottom of the second term:

\frac{cos^2(x)}{sin(x)}+\frac{sin^2(x)}{sin(x)}

\frac{cos^2(x)+sin^2(x)}{sin(x)}

Pythagorean Identity states that sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)=1, so substitute that in:

\frac{1}{sin(x)}

Which simplifies to:

csc(x)

Hope this helps!

What is the rate of change between (-8,- 8) and (0,8)
iren [92.7K]

{ \qquad\qquad\huge\underline{{\sf Answer}}}

We need to find thr rate of change (slope) of the line joining these two points ~

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: m =   \dfrac{rise}{run}

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: m =  \cfrac{8 - ( - 8)}{0 - ( - 8)}

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: m =  \cfrac{8  +  8}{0  + 8}

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: m =  \cfrac{16}{8}

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: m = 2

Slope of the line (m) joining the two points is 2 ~

I am really confused about this question for math.. any help would be really appreciated:
Elina [12.6K]

y= (\frac 1 4 )^x

A reflection about the x axis, about y=0, is the mapping (x',y')=(x,-y) so

y'= -y = - (\frac 1 4)^{x'}

A dilation of 2 is the mapping (x'',y'')=(2x', 2y')

So

x'=x''/2, y'=y''/2

y''/2= - (\frac 1 4)^{x''/2}

y'' =  - 2((\frac 1 4)^{1/2})^{x''}

y''= - 2(\frac 1 2)^{x''}

We can rewrite that without the primes and combine the powers of 2.

y =  - 2^{1-x}

Let's graph these and see if we're close,

Plot y= (1/4)^x, y= - (1/4)^{x}, y = - 2^{1-x}

X-y=11 if x=4 wat is y
Nata [24]
Let's see this original ewuation:
x-y=11
1) Substitute 4 in for x: 4-y=11
2)Subtract 4 from both sides. This cancels out four. (4-4)-y=11-4
3)Cancel: -y=7
4)Multiply both sides by negative 1:-1*-y=11*-1 \\ y=-11

y=-11

Could someone help please
user100 [1]

Answer:

C, 3y(2y+9)

Step-by-step explanation:

you can factor out a 3 from both 6 and 27, as well as a y from both so you would put them on the outside as shown in C. Hope that helped! Let me know if you need more of an explanation, and id be happy to help!

6y^2+27y

6 and 27 both have a common factor, meaning that the same number can go in to them both, 3. Because both 6 and 27 have a y, you are able to also take out a y so outside would be 3y.

so the answer is 3y(2y+9)
