Given:

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x

y=\dfrac{1}{2}x-6

To find:

Whether the above functions are proportional or non-proportional?

Solution:

If y is proportional to x, then

y\propto x

y=kx

where, k is constant of proportionality.

The proportional relationships are in the form of  y=kx and they passes through (0,0).

Putting x=0 and y=0 in the given equations.

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x

0=\dfrac{3}{4}(0)

0=0

It is a true statement.

y=\dfrac{1}{2}x-6

0=\dfrac{1}{2}(0)-6

0=0-6

0=-6

It is a false statement.

Therefore, y=\dfrac{3}{4}x is proportional and y=\dfrac{1}{2}x-6 is non-proportional.

HELP ON A TEST
sergejj [24]

Answer:

(-1, 6)

Step-by-step explanation:

The midpoint of a line segment is effectively the point that lies halfway between two pairs of coordinates on a line. The coordinates we're concerned with here are (-4, 10) and (2, 2). So first think about what is halfway between -4 and 2 (or you can add -4 and 2 then divide by 2) and do the same with 10 and 2. This will give you (-1, 6).

Solve the equations using the substitution method:<br> 4x -2y =22<br> 2x + 4y = 6
Ugo [173]
We have that
<span>4x -2y =22------> clear variable y
2y=4x-22--------> y=4x/2-22/2---------> y=2x-11-----> equation 1
2x + 4y = 6------> equation 2

substitute equation 1 in equation 2
2x+4*[2x-11]=6-----> 2x+8x-44=6----> 10x=50------> x=5
then
y=2x-11----> y=2*5-11----> y=-1

2 x - 17 = 11.<br> Help please
Svet_ta [14]

Step-by-step explanation:

Perhaps you want to solve the equation for the value of x. If so then let us work it out:

2x - 17 = 11 \\ 2x = 11 + 17 \\ 2x = 28 \\ x =  \frac{28}{2}  \\  \huge \red { \boxed{x = 14}}
