A store has shirts on display. Seven of the shirts are red. There are 5 more blue shirts than green shirts. There are 2 fewer ye
Nady [450]

Answer: green shirts = 6

Blue shirts = 11

Yellow shirts = 4

Red shirts = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Red shirts = 7

Let green shirts be x.

There are 5 more blue shirts than green shirts. This means:

Blue shirts = x + 5

There are 2 fewer yellow shirts than green shirts. This means:

Yellow shirts = x - 2

There are 28 shirts in total

Red + blue + yellow + green = 28

7 + (x + 5) + (x - 2) + x = 28

7 + x + 5 + x - 2 + x = 28

10 + 3x = 28

3x = 28 - 10

3x = 18

x = 18/3

x = 6

There are 6 green shirts

Blue shirts = x + 5 = 6 + 5 = 11

Yellow shirts = x - 2 = 6 - 2 = 4

Red shirts = 7

For the figures below, assume they are made of semicircles, quarter circles and squares. For each shape, find the area and perim
Marina86 [1]

Area of the shaded region $=36(\pi -2) square cm

Perimeter of the shaded region =6 (\pi + 2\sqrt 2) cm

Solution:

Radius of the quarter of circle = 12 cm

Area of the shaded region = Area of quarter of circle – Area of the triangle

                                             $=\frac{1}{4} \pi r^2 - \frac{1}{2} bh

                                             $=\frac{1}{4} \pi \times 12^2 - \frac{1}{2} \times  12 \times 12

                                             $=36\pi -72

                                             $=36(\pi -2) square cm.

Area of the shaded region $=36(\pi -2) square cm

Using Pythagoras theorem,

AC^2=AB^2+BC^2

AC^2=12^2+12^2

AC^2=288

Taking square root on both sides of the equation, we get

AC= 12\sqrt 2 cm

Perimeter of the quadrant of a circle = \frac{1}{4} \times 2\pi r

                                                             $=\frac{1}{4} \times 2 \times \pi \times 12

                                                             $=6 \pi cm

Perimeter of the shaded region = 6 \pi + 12\sqrt 2 cm

                                                    =6 (\pi + 2\sqrt 2) cm

Hence area of the shaded region $=36(\pi -2) square cm

Perimeter of the shaded region =6 (\pi + 2\sqrt 2) cm

Identify all factors of the expression 〖4x〗^2+17x-15.
Basile [38]

The factors of given expression are: -5 and 3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation is:

4x^2+17x-15

Making pairs for the mid-term 17x by factoring the product of co-efficient of 4x^2 and 15

4x^2+20x-3x-15

= 4x(x+5) - 3(x+5)

=(4x-3)(x+5)

Now

4x-3 = 0\\4x = 3\\x = \frac{3}{4}

x+5 = 0\\x = -5

Hence,

The factors of given expression are: -5 and 3/4
