If you had to subtract 426 from 913 how many times would you need to regroup ?
Kitty [74]

 913

- 426

487 would be your total but your question is how many times we would have to regroup, so.

First, you would have to borrow from the 1 because 3 is smaller then 6. Second, you would have to borrow from the 9 because you can't take 2 from 0. So there you would have to regroup twice to work this problem.

Hope that helps you. :-)

There is a 2/3 of a pizza left over. Jessica ate 3/4 of the leftover pizza. How much of a whole pizza did Jessica eat. Write a s
Juliette [100K]
First

bring the fractions to a like denominator
8/12 equals 2/3 and 9/12 is equal to 3/4

2nd

cut the 8/12 into fourths

so 2/12 each piece

jessica ate 3 of the fourths so she ate
6/12 of the leftovers so it's half of the leftovers

now lets just cut up the pizza into 36. and 2 thirds is equal to 24/36

jessica ate 6/12 so she ate 12/24 of that

jessica ate 1/3 of the pizza
