Answer:

  A. perhaps 0 to 7 days

  B. the radius in mm at the start of the study

  C. 0.114 mm/day

Step-by-step explanation:

A. It is always problematic to determine the reasonable domain for an exponential growth function. You can always limit the domain to the length of time for which the function is said to model the growth. It is difficult to say how much beyond that time period the exponential growth can be extrapolated, as most systems run into limits to growth.

Here, the base of the exponential term is 1.01 = 1 + 1%. This tells you the growth rate is 1% per day. The study concludes when the radius was 11.79/11.00 = 1.071818... ≈ 1 + 7.2% times the original size. That is, the study lasted approximately 7 days.

The question in part C has you look at the size on day 7, which is apparently the last day of the study. It is not clear that the model is at all useful beyond the end of the period it is intended to describe.

A reasonable domain for the growth function is 0 to 7 days.

__

B. The function gives the radius of the algae after d days. When d=0 (the y-intercept), the function gives the radius of the algae after 0 days. That is the meaning of the y-intercept is the initial radius of the algae (at the beginning of the study).

The y-intercept is always the "initial value", the value when the independent variable is zero. You have to look at the function definition to see what it is the initial value of.

__

C. The average rate of change is the difference in function values divided by the difference in time between them. Here, the attached table tells us that is ...

  (f(7) -f(2))/(7 -2) = (11.793 -11.221)/5 = 0.572/5 = 0.1144 . . . mm/day

The units of the "average rate of change" are the units of the slope of the curve on the graph: the y-axis units divided by the x-axis units. Here, that is mm/day.

write an expression for the new balance using as few terms as possible. A checking account has a balance of -$126.89. A customer
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

New balance = -151.89 + 4.5x

(where x is the value of the smaller deposit)

Step-by-step explanation:

The inicial balance was -126.89.

Then, it were made two deposits, one with the value of x, and one that is 3 1/2 times the other, that is, 3.5x.

Then, the customer made a withdraw of $25.

So, The new balance can be calculated as:

New balance = inicial balance + x + 3.5x - 25

New balance = -126.89 + 4.5x - 25

New balance = -151.89 + 4.5x

What is the perimeter of the triangle (4,1) (2,5) (1,-1)
Naya [18.7K]

the perimeter of the triangle=14.38

The coordinates of the triangle (4,1),(2,5),(1,-1);

In geometry, the perimeter of a shape is defined as the total length of its boundary.

The perimeter of the triangle is the sum of all the sides of the triangle =a+b+c (assuming a,b, and c are the sides of the triangle)

By using the distances formula find the length of the sides of the triangle:√[(x₂ - x₁)² + (y₂ - y₁)²],

where (x₁,y₁),(x₂,y₂) are the coordinates ,

a=√[(4 - 2)² + (1- 5)²] = \sqrt 20=4.7

b=√[(2 -1)² + (5 -(-1))²]=\sqrt37=6.08

c=√[(1 -4)² + ((-1)-1)²]=\sqrt13=3.60

the perimeter of the triangle=a+b+c=4.7+6.08+3.60=14.38

hence ,perimeter of the triangle=14.38

Se vende2 usb en 60 soles cada uno. En una se ganó el 20% y en la otra se perdió el 20% ¿Se ganó o se perdió en total y cuánto?
aniked [119]
Voy a responder en el mismo idioma en que está la pregunta.

1) Venta con ganancia

Precio de venta 60 soles.

Ganancia = 20% del costo => costo + 0,20 * costo =  precio

=> costo (1 + 0,20) = precio = 60 soles

=> costo (1,20) = 60 soles => costo = 60 soles / 1,20 = 50 soles

2) Venta con pérdida del 20%

Pérdida = 20% del costo

=> costo - precio = 20% * costo => costo - 0,20*costo = precio

=> costo ( 1 - 0,20) = 60 soles => costo * 0,80 = 60 soles

=> costo = 60 soles / 0,80 = 75 soles

3) Costo total = 50 soles + 75 soles = 125 soles

4) Ganancia total = valor total de venta - costo total

Ganancia total = 2 * 60 soles + 125 soles = 120 soles - 125 soles = - 5 soles.

El signo negativo significa que al final se perdió 5 soles en la operación.
