Alice needs to rent a car while on vacation. The rental company charges $17.95, plus 18 cents for each mile driven. If Alice onl

y has $40 to spend on the car rental, what is the maximum number of miles she can drive?
im supposed to write an equation to represent the situation and show work in solving for X (maximun number of miles she can drive) if you can do this i'd appreciate and maybe then i could probably get the equation much better.

Answer:  Equation: 17.95 + 0.18x = 40

 122.5 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the rental fee is $17.95  then it will not change in any situation plus 18 cents per mile  driven, then we can represent that by the expression ,

17.95 + 0.18x  where x is the number of miles driven.

She has $40 so we will set the expression to equal $40.

17.95 + 0.18x = 40     Now to solve for x subtract 17.95 from both sides

-17.95               -17.95

 0.18x = 22.05  Divide both sides by 0.18

x = 122.5

For 5 through 8, write a statistical question that could be used to gather data on each topic. 5. Distances members of the track
MaRussiya [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

We must ask a question that your answer corresponds to each of the topics in the statement, therefore we will review each one:

5. Distances members of the track team jogged last week

How far did you run last week?

6. Numbers of letters in name of street you live on

How many letters are there in the name of your street?

7. Cost of a restaurant dinner

How much did you pay for dinner?

8. Numbers of cars of different colors in a parking lot

What color is your car?

Blizzard [7]

Answer:

The value of the test statistic is -3.14.

Step-by-step explanation:

Test statistic:

t = \frac{X - \mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}}

In which X is the sample mean, \mu is the expected value, \sigma is the standard deviation and n is the size of the sample.

A company advertises that its cans of caviar each contain 100 g of their product.

This means that \mu = 100

They calculate a sample mean weight of 99 g and a sample standard deviation of 0.9 g. Sample of 8 cans.

This means that X = 99, \sigma = 0.9, n = 8

So the test statistic will be given by:

t = \frac{X - \mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}}

t = \frac{99 - 100}{\frac{0.9}{\sqrt{8}}}

t = -3.14

The value of the test statistic is -3.14.

PLEASE HELP!!!! WILL MARK BRAINLIEST!!!!
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

None of these.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's assume we are trying to figure out if (x-6) is a factor. We got the quotient (x^2+6) and the remainder 13 according to the problem.  So we know (x-6) is not a factor because the remainder wasn't zero.

Let's assume we are trying to figure out if (x^2+6) is a factor.  The quotient is (x-6) and the remainder is 13 according to the problem.  So we know (x^2+6) is not a factor because the remainder wasn't zero.

In order for 13 to be a factor of P, all the terms of P must be divisible by 13.  That just means you can reduce it to a form that is not a fraction.

If we look at the first term x^3 and we divide it by 13 we get \frac{x^3}{13} we cannot reduce it so it is not a fraction so 13 is not a factor of P

None of these is the right option.

5 ( n - 7 ) = 2 ( n + 14 )
wariber [46]

Answer:

n=21

Step-by-step explanation:

We must find n.

Remember PEMDAS. First we must do the Parentheses. Lets do distributive property by multiplying a number that is immediately outside the parentheses with each number inside the parentheses. Lets do this one side at a time.

First lets do 5(n - 7). We get 5n - 35

Now 2(n + 14) is 2n + 28

Okay...... now we have 5n-35=2n+28

Now lets do OPPOSITES!!!! We must do the opposite of each thing to both sides.

The opposite of -35 is positive 35. Lets add 35 to both sides. We get:

5n=2n+63

Now lets do the opposite of 2n which is -2n

3n=63

this is looking quite nice isnt it..........

The opposite of 3 times n is 3 DIVIDED BY n. So lets divide both sides by 3

n=21

amazing.......
