Answer:

Number of brownies = 30

Number of cookies = 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Cost of each brownie = $2

Cost of each cookie = $1.5

Total number of treats = 45

Total amount = $82.50

Find:

Number of cookies and brownie

Computation:

Assume;

Number of brownies = b

Number of cookies = c

So,

b + c = 45........eq1

2b + 1.5c = 82.50...........eq2

Eq1 x 2

2b + 2c = 90 ..................eq3

Eq 3 - Eq 1

0.5c = 7.5

c = 7.5 / 0.5

Number of cookies = 15

Number of brownies = 45 - Number of cookies

Number of brownies = 45 - 15

Number of brownies = 30

The length of a 200 square foot rectangular vegetable garden is 4feet less than twice the width. Find the length and width of th
inna [77]

Answer:

Length = 18.099 ft

Width = 11.049 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

let the length of the field be x ft

and the width be y ft

as per the condition given in problem

x=2y-4   -----------(A)

Also the area is given as 200 sqft

Hence

xy=200

Hence from A we get

y(2y-4)=200

taking 2 as GCF out

2y(y-2)=200

Dividing both sides by 2 we get

y(y-2)=100

y^2-2y=100

subtracting 100 from both sides

y^2-2y-100=0

Now we solve the above equation with the help of Quadratic formula which is given in the image attached with this for any equation in form

ax^2+bx+c=0

Here in our case

a=1

b=-1

c=-100

Putting those values in the formula and solving them for y

y=\frac{-(-2)+\sqrt{(-2)^2-4 \times (-1) \times 100}}{2 \time 1}

y=\frac{-(-2)-\sqrt{(-2)^2-4 \times (-1) \times 100}}{2 \time 1}

Solving first

y=\frac{2+\sqrt{4+400}{2}

y=\frac{2+\sqrt{404}{2}

y=\frac{2+20.099}{2}

y=\frac{22.099}{2}

y=11.049

Solving second one

y=\frac{-(-2)-\sqrt{(-2)^2-4 \times (-1) \times 100}}{2 \time 1}

y=\frac{2-\sqrt{4+400}{2}

y=\frac{2-\sqrt{404}{2}

y=\frac{2-20.099}{2}

y=\frac{-18.99}{2}

y=-9.045

Which is wrong as the width can not be in negative

Our width of the field is

y=11.099

Hence the length will be

x=2y-4

x=2(11.049)-4

x=22.099-4

x=18.099

Hence our length x and width y :

Length = 18.099 ft

Width = 11.049 ft

Y=2x+3 <br> y=3x+1 <br> solve the system of equations using substitution
Lynna [10]

Answer:

(2, 7 )

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the 2 equations

y = 2x + 3 → (1)

y = 3x + 1 → (2)

Substitute y = 3x + 1 into (1)

3x + 1 = 2x + 3 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

x + 1 = 3 ( subtract 1 from both sides )

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 into either of the 2 equations for corresponding value of y

Substituting x = 2 into (1)

y = 2(2) + 3 = 4 + 3 = 7

Solution is (2, 7 )

<em><u>Answer:</u></em>

Around 4 : 3 because the measurements might not be perfect.

<em><u>Step-by-step explanation:</u></em>

So the ratio of the NEW : ORIGINAL is just one side of the rectangle to the other side of the original one.

We know that the newer rectangle (or the larger one) has 4 cm as its side and that the original one (the smaller one) has 3cm as its side. Then we can create the ratio of NEW : ORIGINAL as: 4 : 3

A billiard ball is struck by a cue. It travels 100 cm before ricocheting off a rail and traveling another 100 cm into a corner p
Airida [17]

Answer:

76.53 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, the triangle formed has 2 sides and an included angle ;

Angle, θ = C = 45°

We use cosine rule :

Taking the side to find as c

a = 100 ; b = 100

From cosine rule :

c = sqrt(a² + b² - 2abCosC)

c = sqrt(100² + 100² - 2(100*100)Cos45

c = sqrt(10000 + 10000 - 20000 * 0.7071067)

c = sqrt(20000 - 14142.135)

c = sqrt(5857.865)

c = 76.536690

c = 76.53 cm
