5 0

Answer:

9/20

Step-by-step explanation:

first you have to make 1 1/4 an improper fraction so since the denominator is 4 you add 4 to the numerator which is 1 so your fraction would be 5/4.

Second you make the denominators the same so you have to multiply them together. but since your multiplying the denominators you have to multiply the numerator as well. so for 5/4 you would multiply both the numerator and denominator by 10 so your fraction will now be 50/40. now you  multiply 8/10 by 4 so your new fraction is now 32/40

Third you subtract. you only have to subtract the numerators so 50-32 is 18 so your answer is 18/40

Last you need to simplify the highest number you can divide both of them by is 2 so now you divide 18 by 2 which makes 9 then you divide 40 by 2 which is 20 so your answer is 9/20

Sorry i'm not the best at explaining things but i tried my best

Hope this helps you out and have a great day : )

Which statement best describes the equation (x + 5)2 + 4(x + 5) + 12 = 0?
lidiya [134]

Answer:

Option 1 is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equation (x + 5)^2 + 4(x + 5) + 12 = 0

we have to choose the best statement describes the above equation.

(x + 5)^2 + 4(x + 5) + 12 = 0  →  (1)

As, the highest degree of its monomials i.e individual terms with non-zero coefficients is 2.

⇒ Degree of above equation is 2.

hence, the given equation is quadratic equation.

The general form of quadratic equation is

ax^2+bx+c

In variable u: u^2+u+c=0  →  (2)

Now, compare equation (1) with (2), we say that

The equation is quadratic in form because it can be rewritten as a quadratic equation with u substitution u = (x + 5).

Option 1 is correct.

A competitive cheer team allows only the top 4% of athletes who try out to be part of the team. If the team tryout scorecard has
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

C.) 217

Step-by-step explanation:

If the top 4% of athletes are allowed to be part of the team, then the bottom 1-4\%=96\%  will not qualify.

We look for a z-score below which 96\% of the population lie.

Reading from the z-table as shown in the attachment, this z-value corresponds to 1.74.

We now use the z-score formula to find the required minimum qualifying score.

Z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

where \mu=200,\sigma=10,and\:z=1.74

We substitute and solve for x.

1.74=\frac{x-200}{10}

x-200=17.4

x=200+17.4

x=217.4

x\approx217

The correct choice is C
