Pedro bought lb of red sand and lb of brown sand to refill his sand box. Both types of sand cost $4.60 a pound. How much did Ped
Doss [256]
If we know that Pedro bought 1 \frac{1}{4} pounds of red sand, and 5 \frac{1}{2} pounds of brown sand, and they both cost $4.60, then we just have to add the individual amounts of sand, since they cost the same.

1  \frac{1}{4} + 5  \frac{1}{2} = 6  \frac{3}{4}

So Pedro bought 6 \frac{3}{4} lbs of sand overall. Now, we just need to multiply the cost per pound by the total amount of sand he bought.

6 \frac{3}{4} * 4.6 = 31.05

Pedro spent $31.05 on sand, which is answer choice B.
Hope that helped =)

A sign standing 6 feet tall is situated 18 feet away from a flag pole. at a certain time of day the sign's shadow is 3 feet long
alexdok [17]
Observe attached picture.

On picture we have:
A = height of flagpole = x ft
B = length of flagpole's shadow = 24 ft
C = height of sign = 6 ft
D = length of sign's shadow = 3 ft

When we draw a picture representing this problem we can also add another line marked in red. This way we can see that we have two right-angle triangles. We can see that both have same angle marked with α.

We can apply trigonometry rules to find height of flagpole.

From small triangle containing sign we can find tangens function:
tan \alpha = \frac{C}{D}
Similarly we can do for large triangle containing flagpole:
tan \alpha = \frac{A}{B}

We see that these two equations have same left sides. This means that their right sides must also be same:
\frac{C}{D} = \frac{A}{B}
We can solve for A:
CB=AD \\ A= \frac{CB}{D}  \\ A= \frac{6*24}{3}  \\ A=48 ft

Height of flagpole is 48 feet.

"-3 = 9/5c + 32" help with finding c pls!! i need it as a decimal btw.
Serggg [28]

Answer:

-3=9/5c +32

-3*5c=9/5c*5c+32*5c

-15c=9+160c

-15c -160c =9

c(-15-160)=9

c(-15-160)/(-15-160)=9/(-15-160)

c=9/(-15-160)
