A plant and numerous snails occupy the same tightly closed aquarium. The aquarium is exposed to sunlight for 12 hours a day and

has 2 inches of water in it. What would happen to the plant if you removed all the snails from the aquarium? The plant would die from lack of glucose. The plant would die from lack of oxygen. The plant will thrive because it can undergo both processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The plant will thrive because it can photosynthesize but then it will die because it cannot perform cellular respiration.

The answer is D because plants intake CO2 through photosynthesis but cannot perform cellular respiration because that is the form of gaining energy in humans and other heterotrophic organisms. Hope this helps!

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

The plants has the ability to survive on its own. It can itself release carbon dioxide into the closed system and use the carbon dioxide for the process of photosynthesis.

The snails in the aquarium plays a major role in the releasing carbon dioxide and cleaning the aquarium.

The ability of the plant to perform photosynthesis needs carbon dioxide and water and releases oxygen in atmosphere. Without snails also the plants will be able to survive on their own.

arlik [135]

Answer:

1. Pepsin is the active form of a digestive enzyme in the stomach that breaks polypeptide chains into smaller peptide strands.

2. The cleavage of stomach results in formation of pepsinogen (which is a protein digesting enzyme found is gastric juice secreted by gastric glands present in the walls of stomach) which gets broken down into its active form  i.e. pepsin in the stomach by the action of hydrochloric acid.

3. An amino acid chain made up of three amino acids joined together is called a tripeptide. (correct)

4. Dipeptide describes an amino acid chain made up of two amino acids joined together. (correct)

5. The 20 different amino acids are the building blocks used for protein synthesis. (correct)

6. Amino acid pools are stockpiles found in the blood and other cells of the body that can be used to build new proteins. (correct)

7. The continual process of degrading and synthesizing protein is called protein turnover. (correct)

8. The stomach produces pepsin, which denatures protein. (correct)

9. Denaturation occurs when a protein is exposed to heat, acid, bases, or mechanical agitation resulting in unfolding of the protein, though the peptide bonds remain intact. (correct)

10. The part of an amino acid that contains nitrogen is called the amine group. (correct)

11. The acid group is also known as the hydroxyl group.

12. Single amino acids that are absorbed in the small intestine travel to the liver via the portal vein. (correct). The portal vein is also called hepatic portal.

Dolphins are able to sleep without drowning because they have gills, like fish do. have a special opening that allows air in but
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

They sleep on just one side of their brain at a time

Explanation:

Dolphins are different from fishes that can breathe underwater.

It is necessary for them to get to the surface of the water at intervals to breathe air.

While sleeping, dolphins allows one hemisphere of their brains fall asleep while the other half is fully conscious. This means that If the left brain is sleeping, the right eye stays open and if the right brain is sleeping, the left eye stays open.

This happens so they always know when it's time to surface and breathe and when to escape when there is trouble.

Determine the correct order of the genes on the chromosome, given the following information: Genes A and T cross over at a rate
devlian [24]

Answer:

b. AMHT

Explanation:

The arrangement of genes on a chromosome can be estimated by considering the distance between the genes using the rate or frequency of their cross overs. Therefore, we have:

A-------------------18-------------------T

                        M---------9---------

--------------11-------------H

                          ---2---

Thus, using the arrangement above by selecting the letters as they occur, we have:

AMHT as the correct genes arrangement in the chromosome.
