Work progress act was created by government to create jobs for the unemployed people. In social security act it was created to be able to pay insurance programs which were designed to pay the retired workers.

It provided old age benefits and provisions for blind people, crippled children and child welfare.

The work progress act its main purpose was to employ people who are unemployed to carry out projects. For example, construction of roads and buildings.
