Slavery is a situation whereby one person, the slave, is removed from all his rights and subjected by another, the slaveholder, to forced labor without payment or recognition. In slavery, the main right that the slave loses is freedom, which is ultimately the independence that the person has to be able to exercise his personal rights without arbitrary limitations. Therefore, the main right that should be improved with respect to slavery is freedom, that is, granting freedom to slaves.
