"Compassion fatigue" is a very common situation for people working in the healthcare industry. Veterinarians and other healthcare workers are often exposed directly to patients who have suffered traumas, thus, they would feel the exhaustion of sympathizing with them. This will result to diminished feelings of sympathy or care on their end. They will become more resistant when it comes to helping people in the future. This is the cost of being overly exposed to care for people.
