Geography

The large scale immigration led to much more labor force and competitiveness, which led to industrial expansion, and also increased the demand for housing.

Explanation:

The interest for the United States has been high for lot of people from Europe that wanted to migrate for a very long time. The interest skyrocketed when the United States became even more powerful, gained more territory, and industrialized. As parts of Europe were in dire conditions, lot of people saw the United States as a great opportunity to have a good life.

Because of the requirements of the industry, the United States allowed large scale migration, mainly from Europe. This led to much more labor force on the market, so the industry had basis for further expanding. The birth of the Robber Barons occurred because of this, as the factory owners knew that the new immigrants will accept working for less because they came from worst places, so all of the increased profit was going in their pockets.

Because an enormous mass of people moved in, more housing was needed, which in turn prompted mass urbanization. The rapid urbanization led to significant increase in the size and populations of the cities, but also led to the creation of poor areas of the cities, where the living conditions were terrible.

The majority of the people that migrated to the United States in this period were from:

  • Germany
  • Scandinavia
  • Ireland

vredina [299]

12 - 15x = -6

to isolate x, we will subtract 12 from both sides

-15x = -18

now we will divide both sides by -15

x=18/15

x=6/5

Un niño compro globos, gasto 1/5 y luego 2/3 de su ahorro ¿que parte gasto y que parte le quedo?
zlopas [31]

Answer:

El niño gastó \frac{8}{15} y le quedó \frac{7}{15} del ahorro.

Explanation:

Sea m la cantidad total inicial de su ahorro. A continuación, transformamos cada oración en una expresión matemática:

(i) <em>Un niño gasta </em>\frac{1}{5}<em> de su ahorro inicial</em>:

p_{1} = \frac{1}{5}\cdot m (1)

(ii) <em>Luego, gasta </em>\frac{2}{3}<em> de su ahorro actual</em>:

p_{2} = \frac{2}{3}\cdot (m-p_{1}) (2)

p_{2} = \frac{2}{3}\cdot \left(m-\frac{1}{5}\cdot m)

p_{2} = \frac{2}{3}\cdot \frac{4}{5}\cdot m

p_{2} = \frac{8}{15}\cdot m

Ahora, la porción remanente del ahorro es:

p_{3} = m - p_{2}

p_{3} = \frac{7}{15}\cdot m

El niño gastó \frac{8}{15} y le quedó \frac{7}{15} del ahorro.

How do you teach your preschoolers about Jamaica, your native country?

Jamaica is a jewel and very dear to my heart. I share this with my class by having Jamaica Week every year. I transform the classroom with decorations—the Jamaican flag and pictures of our musicians and athletes. They learn songs, games, and our language—the local dialect is the patois. They also taste Jamaican food, including some of my favorites: patties, stew chicken, fruit cake, plantains, rice and peas, and tamarind balls. I teach them how make their own toys, so they gain perspective on the lives of less privileged children. They make trucks, cars, balls, and windmills. This is one crafty project they love.
