Answer:

a. We have:

June's total cash collections = $605,760

July's total cash collections = $715,580

b. We have:

June's Loan Balance End of Month = $1,324,163

July's Loan Balance End of Month = $2,226,541

Explanation:

a. Prepare a schedule that shows the computation of cash collections of its credit sales (accounts receivable) in each of the months of June and July.

Note: See part a of the attached excel file for the schedule that shows the computation of cash collections for June and July.

In the part a of the attached excel file, we have:

June's total cash collections = $605,760

July's total cash collections = $715,580

b. Prepare a cash budget for June and July, including any loan activity and interest expense. Compute the loan balance at the end of each month.

Note: See part b of the attached excel file for cash budget for June and July.

In the cash budget in the attached excel file, the following calculations is made:

June additional loan = Minimum required cash balance - June Preliminary cash balance = $110,000 - (-$1,169,663) = $110,000 + $1,169,663 = $1,279,663

July additional loan = Minimum required cash balance - July Preliminary cash balance = $110,000 - (-$792,378) = $110,000 + $792,378 = $902,378

From the cash budget, we have:

June's Loan Balance End of Month = $1,324,163

July's Loan Balance End of Month = $2,226,541

Machinery is purchased on July 1 of the current fiscal year for $240,000. It is expected to have a useful life of four years, or
xenn [34]

Answer:

a. $28,125

b. $60,000

c. $14,400

Explanation:

The computation of the depreciation expense for the last six months is shown below:

a) Straight-line method:

= (Purchase value of machinery - residual value) ÷ (useful life)

= ($240,000 - $15,000) ÷ (4 years)

= ($225,000) ÷ (4 years)

= $56,250

In this method, the depreciation is same for all the remaining useful life

So, for 6 months it would be

= $56,250 × 6 months ÷ 12 months

= $28,125

(b) Double-declining balance method:

First we have to find the depreciation rate which is shown below:

= One÷ useful life

= 1 ÷ 4

= 25%

Now the rate is double So, 50%

In year 1, the original cost is $240,000 so the depreciation is $60,000 after applying the 50% depreciation rate  and 6 months

(c) Units-of-production method:

= (Purchase value of machinery - residual value) ÷ (estimated operating hours)

= ($240,000 - $15,000) ÷ (25,000 operating hours)

= ($225,000) ÷ (25,000 operating hours)

= $9 per hour

Now for the current year, it would be

= Estimated operating hours in the current year × depreciation per hour

= 1,600 hours × $9

= $14,400

Riley says that the present value of $700 one year from today if the interest rate is 6 percent isless than the present value of
devlian [24]

Answer:

A) Both Riley and Anh are correct.

Explanation:

to see who is right we can calculate:

PV = FV / (1 + r)ⁿ

FV = PV x (1 + r)ⁿ

Riley's statement:

PV = $700 / (1 + 6%) = $660.38

PV = $700 / (1 + 3%)² = $659.82

Riley is right

Anh's statement:

FV = $700 x (1 + 6%) = $742

FV = $700 x (1 + 3%)² = $742.63

Anh is right

They are both right due to compound interest, since compound interest means that the interest earned will also earn more interest.
