7) Who was Robert Gould Shaw? Robert Gould Shaw was an american officer in the union
Ket [755]

7. Robert Gould Shaw was an American officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

8. The Confederate Congress passed its own law in March 1863. Routine impressment calls throughout the rest of the war forced thousands of free and enslaved black men at a time into service. These men typically served terms of two to three months digging trenches or building fortifications for the Engineer Department.

9. Union Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and 272 of his troops are killed in an assault on Fort Wagner, near Charleston, South Carolina. Shaw was commander of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry, perhaps the most famous regiment of African American troops during the war.

10. Shaw's parents, however, prominent in Boston as strong abolitionists, resisted this sentiment. His father sent instructions to the officers of his son's regiment, writing, “We would not have his body removed from where it lies surrounded by his brave & devoted soldiers, if we could accomplish it by a word.

A patient who has suffered a small, localized injury to the brain and who, as a result, never feels hungry and must be forced to
Elena-2011 [213]

The correct answer is False

Explanation:

Hunger is regulated by the hypothalamus, which is a region located in the brain. Due to this, people with injuries in this zone might experience issues regulating their appetites such as lack of satisfaction after eating or lack of impulse to eat (hunger). Thus, if a patient does not feel hungry and experienced a brain injury, this is likely related to the hypothalamus. On the other hand, the thalamus, which is a different zone in the brain located above the hypothalamus regulates sensory impulses and movements but it is not related to appetite or hunger.

In your own words, describe the primary difference between consequentialist and non-consequentialist approaches to ethics. Choos
tino4ka555 [31]

A consequentialist approach to ethics is an approach that claims that the morality of an action depends on its outcome. This means that an action is "good" is the consequence it brings is good as well. An example of such a theory is Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism states that an action is morally good if it leads to the most happiness for greatest number of people. However, an objection that can be made to this theory is that utility and happiness are subjective, as well as difficult to measure.

On the other hand, non-consequentialist ethics state that the morality of an action is based on the rightness and wrongness of the actions themselves and not the consequences of those actions. An example of this is the Natural Rights Theory, which states that humans have an inherent right to certain rights, regardless of human behaviour. However, it is unclear who has the right to state what these rights are, which has led to criticism of the theory.
