The answer is x-6.Remove the Parentheses and distribute 3 through the Parentheses and put the + between Parentheses.Collect terms you will get x-18+12 and calculate the sum you will get the answer x-6.

Answer:

x - 6.

Step-by-step explanation:

3(x-6) = 3x -18

A town has a population of 32,000 in the year 2002; 38,400 in the year 2003; 46,080 in the year 2004; and 55,296 in the year 200

The point is to find the growth rate. The compound formula is:

P=A(1+ growth rate)ⁿ, where A is the initial Value & P the new value after n years:
P₂₀₀₃ =P₂₀₀₂ (1+ growth rate)¹ (the period "n" from 2002 to 2003 being 1 year)

38400 = 32000(1+growth rate)¹
38400 / 32000 - 1= growth rate & growth rate = 1/5 = 0.2
You will balso find the same growth rate for:
P₂₀₀₄ = P₂₀₀₃(1+ growth rate)¹
P₂₀₀₅ = P₂₀₀₄((1+ growth rate)¹
between 2015 & 2002 THERE ARE 14 YEARS:

P₂₀₁₅ = P₂₀₀₂(1+0.2)¹⁴ & P₂₀₁₅ = 32000(1+02)¹⁴ = 410,854

The third one is a point with the first equation.

I had to simplify the second equation.

It simplified to,

y =  -  \frac{1}{4} x - 2
The second one with the above is didn't go through so I'd say no solution.

Find the point P on the line yequals4x that is closest to the point (51 comma 0 ). What is the least distance between P and (51
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the distance formula D = √[ (x - x0)² + (y - y0)² ], using (x0, y0):  (51, 0).  Replace 'y' with '4x':

D = √[ (x - 51)² + (4x - 0)² ], or (after simplification)

D = √[ x² - 102x + 2601) + 16x² ], or  D = √[ 17x² - 102x + 2601 ].

This is the objective function in terms of one variable (x).

You don't specify the method to be used.  The main method choices you have are (1) calculus and (2) algebra.

We want the x value at which this distance D is a minimum.  We can find that x value by finding the minimum of 17x² - 102x + 2601), whose graph is that of a parabola with minimum at x = -b/(2a).  Here, that x is x = 102/(34), or x = 3.

We conclude that the distance between the given point and the given line is a minimum when x = 3.

That distance is D = √[17x² - 102x + 2601], evaluated at x = 3:

√[ 17(9) - 102(3) + 2601 ] = 49.5 approximately
