Answer: 28 p

Explanation:

To solve this problem we're going to use an equation. First let's write down the information that we do know.Let's use (r) for ruler and (c) for crayon.
So 7 rulers and 15 crayons cost £7 (or 700 pennies) --> 7r + 15c = 700But we also know that r = c +12
So we can substitute c + 12 into the first equation where r is at the moment.
7(c+12) + 15c = 700
Now let's expand the brackets. We multiply 7 by c to get 7c and 7x12 t0 get 84
7c + 84 +15c = 70022c + 84 = 700 Here I'm going to take 84 away from both sides. 22c = 616
Remember this is a non calculator paper so we need to find an easy way of dividing 616 by 22.
616 divided by 22 is 28 so c = 28Each crayon therefore costs 28p

April and Bill went to the grocery store to buy chocolate bars. April bought 4 small chocolate bars and 6 large chocolate bars ,
Elena-2011 [213]

Step-by-step explanation:

To  do this equation, we could put it in terms of algebra, lets say the large chocolate bars are represented by L and the small bars by S

April

4S + 6L = $16.50

Bill

4S + 3L = $11.25

Looking at this, we can see that the difference between the two purchases is that Bill bought three less large chocolate bars, this means the difference in total cost equals three large chocolate bars. Using this knowledge.

$16.50 minus $11.25 = $5.25

$5.25 = Three Large Bars

Divide this by three to get the cost of one large bar.

$1.75 is the cost of one single large bar.

Xelga [282]

Answer:  \sqrt{5} /7

Step-by-step explanation:

5/4 is not an irrational number because it is already in a fraction the same as 1/8 and 3/5.

The square root of 5 is not rational because it cannot be converted to a fraction or in other words is not a perfect square.
