The two numbers would be 12 and 8 because 12 is 4 more than 8 and so the sum of 12 and 8 is 20.

X=y+4
x+y=20

now substitute the x for (y+4) in the second equation
(y+4)+y=20
2y+4=20
2y=16
y=8
now substitute 8 for y in the first equation
x=8+4
x=12
so y=8 and x=12

ladessa [460]
Fraser got 14 questions right

questions correct 70/5 = 14
—— ——
total questions 100/5 = 20

therefore he got 14 questions right

you divide 100 by 5 because percents are always out of 100 and that gets you 20 which is how many questions the spelling bee had

then you do the same to the top (divide by 5) and get 14

14/20 questions were answered right

What is the value of x when y equals 2 in the equation y equals x over 4 - 7
Alex

The value of x when y = 2 is x = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation that we have in this problem is:

y=\frac{x}{4}-7

In order to find the value of x when y is equal to

y = 2

We need to re-arrange the equation making x the subject.

We proceed as follows:

1) We add +7 on both sides:

y+7=\frac{x}{4}-7+7\\y+7=\frac{x}{4}

2) Now we multiply both  sides by 4:

4(y+7)=\frac{x}{4}\cdot 4\\x=4(y+7)

3) Now we can substitute y = 2 and find the value of x:

x=4(2+7)=4(9)=36
